  1. Thanks guys. Well after having a better look around i found that the internals all work its just replacement cosmetics, new cover, new indicator (i always thought it was one unit but they are seperate!),new bit of plastic trim and a can of vrs blue pain £65 which i didnt think was that bad ... would have been better not to pay it if the knob haddnt hit my car in the first place! The dealers wanted £45 for the mirror glass!!! so a little ebaying £11 delivered!.... just hope it fits! anyone got a how to for getting the glass out mirror cover off?
  2. Thanks for the replies, ill have a look around on ebay and one of the online breakers search thingys. are they hard to fit? assuming you have to take door trim off and then its just three bolts and an electrical connector or two? Had a look this morning the top half of the mirror/casing is fine, the bottom has completly gone and the circuit board with the indicators on is snapped in half... doh!
  3. Hi Some Bar steward hit my car this morning on the way to work and smashed my wing mirror with his, probably good job it was a small country lane that i couldnt turn round fast enough in to gigve chase and ask them to pay! I havent had a good look as been at work but its smashed the glass (which i know you can buy seperatly) the clear indicator "glass" has gone and the indicator doesnt work. and i am guessing the main houseing is broken the mirror glass will still move and i think the heating still works, can i buy the indicator bit serpartly? can i buy like a plastic housing?or do i have to buy the whole lot? i am guessing that i like my arm and leg so dont want to go to a dealer for one, and have seen a few on ebay but they are not shown as for the face lift will they fit on mine?
  4. Have tried all the fixes mentioned on here and nothing has worked the only one i havent done is the velcro one but i did try putting a small off cut of fabric there to see if that worked. The point is more that i am fed up with this ongoing the dealer not being very helpful and not being able to fix it. think i am more fed up with the if we p him off enough he will just go away attitude of the dealer. your probably right get the legals involved its probably only the lawyers who will win, but a small claims court is only 50 quid or something isnt it? Have tried the stand in receptio0n and talk loudly until they do something line ... sods law there was only one person there at the time!!
  5. As some of you may have read i put a post up about my car dashboard squeeking. its now been in to the dealers 7 times for the same fault and although they can hear it they cant fix it! i have tried the suggestions that i got on here but they didnt work and even if they did why should i be fixing a car with a trusty pot of greese and doing it myself when i brought the car expecting it to be trouble free and not have to do the odd little "bodge" fix myself, i was even asked to do this by the dealer! so why couldnt they do it themseleves!! Skoda uk are on the case and i dont think they are very impressed with the dealer either, as they keep fobbing myself and them off by the sounds of it, not sure if i am allowed to name names of crap dealers on here but they do vw,skoda and nissan in aylesford / maidstone. This has now been going on since the car was about 6 months old its now nearly 18months old so i think i have been pretty patient. to be honest i am now sick to death of the same old same old "oh we cant book you in for a week or two" i know its ONLY a squeeky dash board but its driving me bloody demented. The odd little fix they do do results in the car being quiet for about a day and then back again now surely it cant be that hard to figure out that if its gonig quiet for a while and then starting again something must be moving! The question i ask is is there any way i can do something legally to kick their arses to try and force thm into getting the car in to fix it once and for all? small claims court? something like that? its not just the point of it being annoying with the noise but i have now had to take the car in 8 times (if you include the service and the noise was also pointed out then too) in the last year, so that costs me time off work, my time effort etc etc. its got to the stage of the noise is bad enough / annoying enough that i just want to sell the car .... and it must be making me go barking as i am looking at insignia's as i said i am that tempted to get rid of the car anyway i'd even ask if its worth persuing the fact that they havent sold me something that does what it say on the tin at point of sale, but can i do that purely because the car is noisey and squeeky? As of course thats not specified in the pre sales litriture. not to mention the last time it was in with them they damaged the drivers seat.. which still has no offer of being fixed although skoda uk have asked them to do so. Any ideas or help appreciated
  6. Well the deeler cure hadnt worked so i tried what was suggested on here and its worked! (so far anyway) as people have been saying its been driving me to insanity the bloody noise like two pieces of polystyrine rubbing up against each other! so fingers x'd its done now. Tis a bit of a worry to me though that its been in six times now for the same thing and nothing has sorted it... but 5 mins and a pot of £2 grease and its sorted (once again i hope!) even if it is a bit of a bodge fix. Now all i need to do is get the seat sorted out that the dealers damaged while it was with them and see if they will re-imburse me for the tank of petrol they used while they had it (went in with at least 30 litres of fuel on board, came back with 10 miles left on the range!)
  7. For what its worth i think gap insurance is worth it. but have a look around online before you buy, i got mine a lot cheaper by doing that if memory serves me well i got it about £100 cheaper than the best price the dealer could give me
  8. As a few have said it just needs the tick in the box via the deeler (or someone with some knowhow) mine changed from variable to fixed servicing and i "lost" the oil temp readout, dealer just turned it back on for me.
  9. Hi, Just in case anyone else has similar problems, just back from the deelers, they had the dash off and found that one of the welds that holds the trunking for cables aircon pipes etc wasnt welded properly and had come adrift. i hope now the squeek has gone for good. on the downside the car has come back after 3 days at the deeler's nearly 30 litres of fuel lighter! (didnt take a note of the milage)but a bit OTT i think, and i now have a nice fluffy drivers seat as if someone has had something in their back pocket which has kinda torn the top layer of stitching to the drivers seat, and back support part of the seat. Back to Skoda UK again!
  10. well although i know how annoying it is for others i am kind of glad its not just me! mine certainly has turned into the hello me again! with the dealers the only thing they have tried as far as i know is to change the air vent passenger side of the dash. skoda uk were supposed to ring me back "the begining of the week" but nothing yet apart from an answer phone message saying that they cant do anything as yet as they cant get hold of my local dealers!
  11. Hi thanks for the replies, Yes its definatly the dash or glove box not the arm rest. has been in 5 times now to the local dealer, so have contacted skoda uk who tell me they are going to get me a car for a while so they can have the car and try and sort the problem out once and for all!. ill take a print out of this with me to give them ideas of what to look for! pain in the butt to be honest as i brough the car to be on the road not parked in a work shop or have some sales gimp giving it a good seeing too while i have a bloody micra on hire!
  12. Had my Vrs for about 14 months now from new, i love the car ...but! the car was fine for about 6 months but ever since then i have had a squeek from the passenger side of the dash its doing my head in now to the point of wanting to get rid of the car (i'm even tempted by a vauxhall insignia things must be bad! ) the car has now been in 5 times for the same fault and to be honest nothing has cured it and its just getting worse. the last time it went in i was told there was a re-call for some bits and bobs on the dash (begs the question why it hadnt been done in the past as its all been main dealer and the re-call is an old one, only for cars with rattles/squeeks) but thats made things worse. had the air vent changed passneger side but the squeek is still there. The sound is the same as two bits of plastic forced together and then rubbed up and down on each other, have tried pushing pulling and wiggling most of the dash but nothing helps. Anyone else had problems? anyone had problems and found a cure (have already tried the turning music up louder!)
  13. Thanks for the replys so far.. a can of worms i am sure but who is best to go with for a remap and does anyone know anybody in the medway area or in kent?
  14. Hi all, I am interested in starting the slippery slope to a stage one remap on my petrol VRS. just want to know a few things really:- 1; Do i have to use "super" unleaded or will the normal stuff do? (thinking about the cost of normal is enough so dont really want to have to go to super all the time) 2: I am thinking of the Shark STS system,as i dont have a lot of time to travel up and get it done, or can anyone recomend anybody in the medway/maidstone area of kent 3: looking around it looks like the power will up to approx 250 with most maps, how much extra have people had to pay on insurance? sorry about all the questions but want to get some advice from people that have done it already rather than being "sold" something who has an interest
  15. Thanks for the reply yes it was put on fixed servicing when it was done, but thats a bit of a poop idea, surely its only a temp sensor and linked to the PLC and then it gives a reading. Ill pop in to the deelers as i used to think it useful to get the oil nice and warm before giving it some welly
