  1. Tom, there's a guy on The Watch Forum looking for a RW Freelancer. Might be worth sending him a PM to see if he's interested?

How dare you state that without any pics Nice purchase, wear it in good health Am surprised how many Omega fans there are on this site
  3. I totally agree with you on car shampoos containing lubricants. It may not make much of a difference when you use the shampoo a few times. but over a few months or a year the paintwork will be noticeably in better condition than a shampoo without these ingredients. As for the shampoos not containing waxes, I use Zymol Auto Wash (made by T-cut for Zymol) and AG Shampoo. Both contain ingredients that mildly protect the paintwork. Nowhere near as good as a dedicated wax, but they help to maintain the shine over any wax you have on there.

I like that Raymond Weil. I still miss my Tango Sport sometimes :( Btw clean your watches (with an untreated cloth) and then take pics :p
  5. Fairy liquid is primarily designed to remove grease from plates. Car wax is basically a lump of grease. Therefore when you wash your car with Fairy then it removes the protection from the paintwork. This causes the paintwork to deteriorate over time quicker than by using a dedicated car shampoo containing a small amount of wax. Its not only the paintwork you have to worry about, but also the plastic/rubber seals around doors/windows slowly perishing over time by using Fairy liquid.
  6. Doubt it but any repairer will be able to see if there is any structural damage
  7. Tbh its probably easier for the repairer to finish off the whole wheel rather than trying to fix just the edge and blending the paint in.
  8. Anyone who can afford a £50k car will be earning at least double that. If he didn't claim through insurance then at least he can afford the repair. Any performance car isn't going to be 'cheap' to repair when things go wrong unfortunately. But if you wanted a car that was economical to run, you wouldn't buy a GTR or that type of vehicle anyway.
  9. I'd go to the Audi dealer and see who they use to fix their alloy wheels. Book it in through Audi, will cost you a little bit more but at least it'll be done right. Any problems and you can go back to the dealer etc. For minor kerbing around the edges, its normally between £20-50 to repair. To do a full face could be anywhere from £50-100.
  10. Sarah, Thats okay, I appreciated that it was late and I'm thankful for Andy for staying past 4 o'clock to help me. By chance it was good that he got to show myself and another guy how the APR software worked at the same time Babs, I didn't get a chance to hear most of the runs as I was in the waiting area. It did sound fantastic through the glass though Luckily Jim let me stand by the car for the final run and it sounded amasing I was grateful that he let me do that, just a shame I didn't take my camcorder to video it I'm also glad I chose the resonated Milltek over the non resonated version after speaking to a couple of people. The non resonated one would have been far too loud and the Neuspeed exhaust I was compreheding would have been even worse again.
  11. Hi everyone, Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong forum section Back in August I got the R32 remapped and cruise control fitted at Awesome GTI (CLICKY). Shortly after I got the Milltek resonated cat-back exhaust fitted along with an oil and filter change, and the car went on their rollers. I was surprised by the results, as using 22% transmission losses as a guide that equates to the standard car with the Milltek and Neuspeed air filter having 247bhp and 230lb-ft. With the APR remap, Milltek and Neuspeed air filter, that equates to 267bhp and 240lb-ft Bearing in mind that the car had only done around 8000 miles, I was really impressed with those figures. I want to thank both Sarah and Andy for their help and putting up with me lol. The graph is shown below:

I was tempted to get one of these in orange last year. What problems did you have with it?
  13. The .:R brand isn't supposed to be cheap though, neither is it supposed to be a normal hot hatch. Look at most hot hatches, the Golf GTI, Focus ST, Civic Type R, Megane 225 etc, they are all marketed at younger drivers or young professionals. They are all very capable cars and just as quick as the .:R in the real world. However the .:R pulls its party trick by being AWD (apart from the new Scirocco) and is being marketed towards more mature drivers who don't want a run of the mill hot hatch but want something special yet comfortable. The .:R brand is the Audi equivalent of the RS range and are supposed to be more upmarket than the sub 20k hot hatches out there. The new Golf .:R20 will go head to head with the Audi RS3 thats coming out, and that will be around the 40k mark by the time you've added some toys. Car manufacturers have been creating this segragation for a while. They make a top of the range car, but create another model above it thats totally different. Look at a few examples (in different extremes): Vauxhall Carlton GSi vs Lotus Carlton Escort RS2000 vs Escort Cosworth Volvo 850 T5 vs 850 T5-R Audi S4 vs Audi RS4 Clio 172 vs Clio V6 You get the idea....

If it's actual sapphire crystal or even just glass then I'd imagine it would be near impossible to remove any scratches. Depending on how old the watch is, I'd get it serviced (most likely just a battery change and seals replaced) and ask them to replace the crystal at the same time There are some places online that sell a transparent protective sheet that fits over the crystal. So if your prone to scratching the crystal, this might be an ideal solution once you get it repaired/replaced.

I love that watch, my friend got one very similar to that a few years ago as a present. I loved the bracelet with the holes in it, which is one of the reasons I got the Breitling.
  16. This was on black magic paint and it worked great. I was using a high speed on the porter cable and it worked well. I was using it in the sun and I could clearly see the marring and swirls disappear as I was polishing I should have asked, are you polishing by hand or using a machine? Perhaps by hand it would be tough as would any polish, but using a machine polisher and a 4" cutting pad it eats through the clear coat very easily. So easy in fact that you have to be careful not to remove too much!
  17. I found Scratch X with a 4" cutting pad to cut through the furby's paint like butter. So I wouldn't say it was useless imo
  18. Does anyone use this app on the iPhone? Please add me if you do: AP2KNC
  19. The amp is HUGE! Weighs almost 30kg The Kefs are brilliant, I replaced some huge floorstanders and bipolar surround speakers with these and haven't regretted it one bit. If anything, they are VERY clear and the sub integrates pretty well with the satellites too. I found floorstanders to be too much for the room, there wasn't enough space for them to breathe properly. Steve they are the same speakers, apart from the finish. Mine are a piano black colour, very glossy, and as a result Kef thought it was a good idea to charge around £200 more for them All my hi-fi kit is from Richer Sounds. I found they do great deals when you buy multiple items. The Onkyo receiver retailed at over 1k, and I got it for less than their sale price with the Supercare warranty Same goes for the tv, I paid under RRP and they threw in the 5 years guarantee too. It was a week old display model though.
  20. Apologies for the poor picture (I hope it works!) but here's my setup in my apartment. Its back in my bedroom now though, needs wiring up! Clicky TV: 40" Samsung Series 8 Amp: Onkyo TX-NR906 Blu-Ray: Onkyo DVBD606 DVD Recorder: LG RHT397 (I think?) Speakers: Kef KHT20005.3 Also connected an Onkyo iPod dock, Sky HD, Sony PS3, Nintendo Wiii.

None of them are old enough to be serviced, but the Seamaster got the crystal replaced and the brushed finish on the casing and bracelet refinished as it was covered in scratches. Goldsmiths send it back to Swatch UK who service Omegas over here. The turnaround is 3 months. They did give me the option of sending it back to Bienne, however that would have been a 6 month turnaround. Swatch UK aren't fantastic in terms of communication, and it had to get sent a second time round before they actually refinished the housing and bracelet. But the watch was brand new when it came back and apparently they gave it a service anyway due to the crystal being replaced. Breitling UK were much better and although the turnaround time was around the same, 3 months, they refinished the polished finish of the watch and realigned the bezel first time round!

If your spending a huge amount of money on a timepiece, and you have to admit spending at lerast 1-2k on a watch is a lot, then I'd only stick to authroised dealers and buy a brand new watch. Used watches can have hidden problems, and then theres the problem of authenticity. Build up a rapport with an AD and they'll treat you well. I bought a Mont Blanc pen the other week. Had it three days and noticed two tiny marks in the resin. The manager ordered a brand new one and replaced it without any fuss. Also knocked off 10% off the RRP and threw in some bottles of Mont Blanc ink too. Had a few issues with the watches too and apart from the Speedie (incidentally they changed for a band new one after Omega messed up the origional) which is still missing the certificate, the others have been sorted out very quickly. If you buy one online it is harder to deal with soemone who you cant speak to face to face, nor can you see the actual item before you purchase it. As for Pawn(porn)brokers and other places, who knows how long they'll be around for? At least with an AD if the particular branch closes you can always find another one or even deal with head office.

Any excuse to be a photo whore Got rid of my Ebel 1911BTR and a few others including an Oakley Minute Machine, Rado Ceramica Multifunction and Raymond Weil Tango Sport. Picked up my new Breitling Navitimer 125e the other month :ukliam: Apart from a few cheap watches with sentimental value, these are my main ones now, Omega Speedie, Seamaster, Breitling Airwolf and Navi 125e. Pretty much finished my collection apart from two grails I want to get hold of in a couple of years, a Rolex Daytona, and a Rolex Deep Sea. Not bad considering Its only taken two years to get to this stage lol.
