  1. Hey dude, My SEAT one is fitted into a FL 2011 Octavia VRs Estate Y, it came in a dvd sized case emblazoned with VW symbols and worked absolutely fine. I installed direct to the HD, I live life on the edge innit. Post install, the splash screen still said SEAT, not VW (i.e no change that I could see) I do think that you may be able to Nav off the SD card if you wanted. From the SEAT Media system 2.2 manual - which is just a SEAT branded RNS-315 / Amudsen+ Navigation from the SD card If certain navigation data is to be used only temporarily, for example a change of geographical zone, we recommend you use the option to navigate with the SD card, rather than using the internal data stored in the navigator. To switch on navigation from the SD card, insert the card in the radio and navigation unit. Please note that any active route guidance will be cancelled when the SD card is inserted. If the memory card inserted contains valid navigation data, a new window will open and will ask whether you wish to download the data from the SD card to the system, or whether you prefer to use the SD card directly. Press the function button Use SD to start the process. Next, the navigation data stored on the SD card is verified. During this process, do NOT remove the SD card. This could damage the card. When the verification procedure has ended, the SD card symbol  is displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the navigator screen. It is now possible to use the data from the SD card to calculate navigation routes. To stop using the data from the SD card, the card must be removed correctly from the radio and navigation unit. Do not remove the card immediately, this could result in damage. To remove the SD card correctly, proceed as follows: Press the SETUP key on the radio and navigation system. Press the function button Navigation database Press the function button Remove SD card . Wait until the system indicates that the SD card can be removed and then remove it. Obviously, as with everything else, YMMV, hope that helps
  2. Apologies for thread interjection. I have the RNS315 (SEAT Mediasystem 2.1) fitted in a FL 2011 VRs with white maxidot - lovin' it Everything works fine from HU side, I can Vol + / - from MFSW Select DAB stations using MFSW and they show up in the maxidot Next / Prev BT audio using MFSW and song info shows up in the maxidot If I long press phone symbol on MFSW it dials last number and shows in the maxidot What doesn't appear....and the bit(s) I'm confused about I don't get a NAV or PHONE sub-menu in the maxidot, so no NAV or Phone in the maxidot. Is this something that can be enabled via VCDS? I thought it could but now I'm reading about BAP / DDP, I'm proper confused innit Apologies, now back to your regular programming
  3. skippy, I purchased this for my mediasystem 2.1 (SEAT RNS-315) from ebay a few weeks ago http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321594348619?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I went from V1 to V7. Pricey for what is, in effect, a one shot deal. Only upgrades the maps, still 5 digit postcodes post upgrade. Upgrade went fine though took a good while Have replied here as this may be of interest to others searching for the same thing. Cheers, Graham
  4. Hi, I've purchased (and successfully fitted) an RNS-315 into the Octavia It's a SEAT Media system 2.1 so has the SEAT boot logo and red backlights....which don't bother me, if I squint and look through a green filter it looks like a skoda It also has Integrated BT and DAB which is nice as it was relatively cheap. I'm having a mic fitted in a few weeks, DAB aerial fitted correctly and removal of the parrot handsfree. I know there's a rather excellent guide to fitting the BT mic yourself on these very forums but meh.....I'm lazy innit....and there's the other stuff which I'd rather not mess with. Everything works flawlessly at the moment, the DAB aerial is loosely draped over the air vents at the moment which surprisingly works well, NAV works fine (Only 5 digit postcode unfortunately but that's a minor issue) So, eventually to my question, given that BT works fine, as does the NAV, they don't show up in the MFD as I was expecting. The DAB info is displayed fine as does the rest of the info, A/C etc.. Is this something that can be rectified by VCDS coding? Or is my MFD and the NAV / BT never to meet? If I long press the phone symbol on the steering wheel it calls the last dialled number and once connected it displays on the MFD. I'm just missing the phonebook scroll and the NAV directions, Cheers, Graham
  5. Thanks for the answers dude. There's a fairly lengthy thread over on one of the VW forums where this is dissected in detail but y, I think it is the successor to the ANS, not quite cutting edge but good enough for me at the moment After looking at the two types it looks like I have the swing type, guess I'll see when the HU turns up and I fit it Good call on the FW, I've emailed and requested this and the max SD card size but as long as it's >1Gb I'll be happy
  6. Hi All, To stave off the inevitable 'search, you muppet'....I have but none of the threads / answers quite hit the mark I've ordered the DNS-610 from iceboxautos [http://www.iceboxauto.com/skoda-octavia-yeti-fabia-dns610], my questions are: It's replacing the factory fit Bolero in a FL 2011 VRs estate as per the topic title, my questions are: 1. Will it require any additional coding for the MFD (I think it should be plug and play....'ish) 2. I've looked here [http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-navigation-trim-2008-2013-50212] at the fascias as I'm not sure if the DNS is a different size....but it looks like the same shape for the DNS HU, does this look like the correct fit (assuming that the Bolero one doesn't fit back in) 3. I've read that the GPS AE can be situated behind the central air vents, is that still the case? 4. Anything else to be aware of? Thanks for any comments, helpful or otherwise Graham
  7. So, turbo replaced. Cat fine, intercooler fine £1280 total A big big thank you to those who offered advice: Exhibit 1 m'lud:
  8. So, turns out that Turbo is borked, checked the pipes as per Phil's advice, no boost whatsoever. Quoted £930 plus fitting for a new turbo. </sigh> My next questions are: Is it worth sourcing one myself? If so, what info do I need to mak sure that I get the correct one? If it type fabia vrs turbo replacement I get lots of fabia vrs's so any recommended places? As always, the advice is much appreciated Graham
  9. @Pasty - I was afraid to go near it this morning. Before retiring to lick my wounds last night I definitely heard some loose bits of metal from in 'there' It definitely hit the limiter on the roundabout, my first thought was limp mode. When I got home and whilst it was on the drive ticking over I definitely heard some loose bits of metal from in 'there' I've prepared myself that it ain't going to be cheap but she's been as good as gold for the past 6 years as a daily driver so I'll just man up *sniff* @Phil - cheers dude, will rev it slightly but I am afraid that I'll damage it even more. Will check the pipes
  10. Thanks for the response Phil, it's appreciated Is there an easy way to know if the turbo is boosting? without driving it obviously, I'm the car mechanics equivalent of rainman (sans casino abilities) Boost pipes are located? I'll search now
  11. Firstly, apologies. I searched and couldn't find an answer to this particular issue (from my viewpoint) So, pulling away from a roundabout last night, (quickly, it's a very busy roundabout) Wheels spin as it was damp as a damp thing, car pulled, torque kicked in, wheels spun and I heard what sounded like a 'whizz'? Changed gear and put foot on throttle but no oomph at all. No lights on the dash, got me home though, but as I was bricking it I drove like Stevie Wonder. On returning home, engine idling, I could hear loose bits from somewhere in 'there' after research, maybe the impeller? So, a few questions. from the info I've supplied, is that enough to know one way or t'other? Does anyone know of a good mechanic in cardiff area that they would reccommend? Will I have to remortgage if it is the turbo blown? Can I drive it? (see disclaimer in title) Any and all responses welcome, Cheers, Graham
  12. Soooooo......where is it in the engine?.....i.e the engine cover is off......i'm looking at the engine....full of hope..... oh wait....where....am I looking??....please? Cheers, Graham
  13. Fuel Temp Sensor ordered , one last question, would somebody post a dummies guide for me, even a couple of pics would be great Again, thanks to all those who've helped, it IS much appreciated Cheers, Graham
  14. Thanks for the part number, did you get it from a stealer or online?? Only reason I ask as I've put a few queries online but so far no joy Cheers, Graham
