When we ordered ours this time round I kept the deal on the Kodiaq seperate to the trade in of our old car. We agreed the deal on the Kodiaq first then I gave the dealer the opportunity to buy my car, they gave me a figure that they said they would honour regardless of delivery date, we were given an estimated delivery of 12 to 16 weeks, they also said if I found I could get more elsewhere that I was welcome to sell it without it having any effect on the deal. As it happened I couldn't get anymore anywhere else. So put the ball in their court, make your intentions very clear, do your homework, your car is never (or very rarely) worth what you think it should be so be realistic and if you aren't comfortable with deal walk away. My last 4 cars have all had the deal sorted by phone and e-mail before entering the showroom, time is precious and my days of sitting while sales staff play the silly game of 'I will have to speak to sales manager' leaving you sat there like a spare part are well and truly gone.

Just bought a Kodiaq from Martin Hadrick at Des Winks, the service has been second to none. A fault just after delivery meant the car had to go straight back, the team at Des Winks couldn't have been better, if the aftercare continues like this I can see us buying from them again. Better than some of the other Skoda dealers in Yorkshire.

Filling from almost empty (TSi)
Superbster replied to Picturesports's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
Had this exact problem today, been to Cornwall and back filled up twice while away no problems, got home yesterday and went to fill today from nearly empty and couldn't get the petrol in, took 5 mins to get 5 ltrs in, thought it was pump, went to do some visiting and thought I would try a different pump on way home, same thing, 10 mins to squeeze 10 ltrs in. Did the OPs problem just disappear and not return? Thanks -
Keep an eye on autotrader for pre reg examples, my SE cost me a touch under £18000 with 100 miles on it. One of the nicest cars I've owned. My personal opinion on finance is to live for today, make sure the deposit covers initial depreciation so the car should always cover the outstanding balance. I rarely keep a car past 2 years (although current ones looking good for a while yet) and certainly couldn't change regularly without finance. It would be nice to buy outright but unfortunatley I just can't wait :-).

Octavia 3 sports suspension
Superbster replied to Pumatron's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
My last car, a Mazda 6, had hardly any gap and was a comfortable ride, so it can be done, but all Skodas seem to ride high. -
No supercharger on 1.8tsi just a turbo

New Octavia test drive reports
Superbster replied to Dr Zoidberg's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Just returned from DM Keith's at Wakefield, similar story regarding cars stuck on boats but they had one elegance trim model that was in the showroom, but also using for test drives (albeit very short ones). I like the car, nothing to rave about but nothing to be disappointed about either. Good solid quality, as far as handling goes like I said short test drive but i expect on a decent drive it will be quite similar to my Superb and to be honest who needs it to handle like a ferrari. This appears to me to be a comfortable spacious reps car/family car. Comparing it to my Superb Estate though, it is no better (it does look better than a superb twin door) quality is now on par and I'm not sure how the pricing will work to make it better value than a superb. Looking forward to see what the vrs estate looks like and when the time comes to change it may well be on the short list (along with a V6 Superb :-)). -
More clarity is the point I'm trying to make, some dealers are very unscrupulous (minority) but there still shouldn't be £3000 pound difference for the car from the same factory no matter how much the dealers mark up is!

Can't remember the last time I went to tescos to haggle for a loaf of bread!!
-
I think it's about time dealers were made to be clearer on what they make on each car. Most people understand that they are in business to make money but all this haggling etc is taking the pleasure out of getting a new car. If its clear to see what profit they're making then its up to us, the consumer, to decide if the price is fair and part with our hard earned cash. I cannot beleive that there can be £3000 difference between making and losing money on a new car coming from the same factory. Don't drive the deal state that their cars won't be pre reg??

We've just got my parents Roomster as a hand me down and I am properly impressed with it!! Never really had much time for it when it was theirs but my Superb hasn't been out of garage for 2 weeks and that has never happened with any other of my wife's cars. I really like the look of the scout too, I would definitely recommend a roomster, get the newest best spec you can afford and the 1.2 dsg is a peach in my parents new Yeti!

I'd buy one but the pricing for Skodas is all over the shop now. While I can get a pre reg delivery miles petrol Superb for £18-£24k depending on engine size and spec the very nice looking octavia will not be sitting on my drive, shame though because I think it looks really nice. Even the Demim blue looks ok in the film and I hate that colour so far!

I drive a superb and if I had to downsize I'd have one! -
Yep had it twice now, first time some years ago on a Leon and had to get AA out, then 12 months ago on my Superb but knew what it was this time. It's unbelievable the sound a little stone can generate!

Sorry, just following topic headline, that's the price variations on autotrader. -
Didn't Audi fit a spoiler to the mk1 TT to improve stability??

If it had have been for me it would have taken ages and probably arrived in March!! I can't stand waiting for a new car, I like to go and buy on a Saturday and pick it up the following Friday, thank heaven for pre-registrations, my Superb was bought Monday picked up Thursday :-)

Prices now ranging from £15475 to £19995, big difference there, can't see £4000 worth of extras! -
Looking like it should be about 4 weeks earlier than expected then. Got to say we have had varying experiences with our local dealer over the last few years, but the current sales staff have been excellent, lets hope it continues once the keys have been handed over!

Yeh I thought it was quick, it's actually my Dads car and he was given an estimated delivery for February, when he called in today the dealer told him it was built and waiting to be shipped. I'm assuming it was a dealer order that matched his spec that was already in the system, anyhow he's pleased it should be here sooner!
