  1. Richard46 you may be right - I had not thought there was a difference. Seems a bit odd to occupy 2 bits of spectrum for the same programmes. Are you sure that the DAB Radio frequencies are different from the Digital TV frequencies?
  2. Andy I have had an Estate L&K for 6 weeks now - it was 6 months old when I got it - and it is in Magnetic Brown. I have to say, it was not the colour I would have chosen but it has grown on me and I think it suits the car. I really wanted a light interior (all my previous cars had light interiors) but the full length glass sunroof and beige sunshade more than compensate. The standard L&K spec has been more than sufficient for me. I did think about the electrically raised tailgate but the manual one is well balanced and easy to open and close. The seats are amazingly comfortable even after driving for 7 hours - that was the verdict of all 4 occupants. Have not got any pictures but will try and take some tomorrow and post them on this forum.
  3. 2SkodaFamily - yes, you are quite right! I took the car for a drive and all the areas that I lost signal in before were giving me a good strong signal. I also managed to send an SMS although it was a bit sad that I could not dictate the message but had to type it in! I'm told that with the Samsung S3 you can speak to the phone and it does a very good job of turning that into text. I'm a happy bunny now. RoDM - I have solved the connection problem thanks. I had not realised that you needed to watch the phone display as well during the connection process and give your permission for the connection to occur every time. All is well now thanks. I just wish that dealerships, or Skoda, would provide an idiots guide on how to connect phones to their cars as this is rapidly becoming an issue.
  4. I took delivery of the dealer's Mar 12 L&K trim Superb Estate and that came with a Columbus with TV (digital and analogue). As DAB is in the digital TV spectrum, guess what, you also get DAB radio. I was delighted to be given the chance to listen to Test Match special on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra but beware that DAB reception is very susceptible to being blocked by cuttings, high buildings, trees etc. Great if you are stationary and you can receive the relevant broadcasts but unless you are driving in flat country the DAB reception is subject to frequent blocking (that's why we mount domestic TV aerials high!) Being able to watch TV when stationary turns out to be quite useful when you are using the car as a waiting room!
  5. I ended up with the L&K special colours of Magnetic Brown exterior and dark brown interior leather. I bought the L&K demonstrator so it was a case of take it or leave it! I have never owned a Brown coloured car before (I won't say how I referred to this brown!) but I have to say that it has grown on me. I really wanted a light interior but the full length glass roof has compensated especially when the light grey sun shade is in position on a grey day. I've also grown to like the two tone alloys which, surprisingly, are really easy to keep clean. Talking of which, the dark colours demand cleanliness so I've now taken up car washing and hoovering the interior again after falling behind in these tasks with my light exterior/interior colour with my previous car.
  6. Thanks for your inputs guys. I have just managed to get the Galaxy S3 and the Superb to talk to each other .... finally! Turned out that I needed to keep an eye on the phone display as there is a dialogue that you need to complete to allow the connection to take place every time. The phone asks if you want to allow the Skoda to talk to it and by clicking on the don't remind me every time and "connect" this seems to have solved the problem. As a matter of interest, the serial number on the Bluetooth box in my car is 3C8 035 730B. I've no idea if this is running rSAP or HFP or both but as everything is working now (fingers crossed) I don't mind which protocol is being used. On my other topic about how do you know whether the car aerial is being used, I looked at my Galaxy when I felt that all the functions were being correctly carried out and noticed that the triangular signal strength meter now displayed a circle with a slash through it - bit like a drestricted speed sign and that the car displayed a strong signal strength. I guess that pretty conclusively answers the question that I posed and that the phone is no longer transmitting but using the car aerial to do so.
  7. I did notice that seat comfort on the L&K pack Superb was noticeably better than on the standard Elegance and my experience since buying the car has been that these are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. On a long trip with three passengers, they also were supremely comfortable despite almost 8 hours in the car. It did take me some time to find the most comfortable seat position but it was well worth it.
  8. RoDM, Interested to read that your Galaxy S3 has connected with no problems. I'm having problems with connecting my S3 with a Mar 2012 Superb Elegance Estate. Did you have to make any changes to the phone or car to get the connection including the phone book coming across?
  9. If you wind some strong twine round them in a spiral that will get rid of the whistle. Take a look at some car aerials that have this tweak incorporated in their design - it was done to stop the whistling.
  10. Hi, I've got an Mar 2012 Superb Estate 170 L&K. My Nokia 6310 connected without difficulty and I could make a receive calls without any problems. I changed to a Samsung Galaxy S3 and while I can connect to the car I had to set the car back to factory settings and then "find" the phone before I could down load the phone book. Now, while I can answer a call I still cannot make a call and get an error message of "Network not enabled" every time I try to call. Are there different Bluetooth control boxes that Skoda use for different phones or is there just the one? Also, I am unconvinced that the handset is using the car aerial although Skoda tell me that is the case. Can anyone confirm if the standard Bluetooth connection also connects the phone to the car aerial? Thanks Peter
