  1. Well, fingers crossed, all quiet here for the moment. I spent a while hoovering out the spiders but perhaps more productive was brushing and hoovering the dust out of what I assume to be the internal alarm sensor. I guessed this was either the three series of slots in the roof (near the sunglasses storage thing) or the two small grilles in the centre of the dash? Anyone know where the sensor actually is?
  2. Fear not, I can certainly make it go off. Achieving the opposite is a little more difficult
  3. That 1.9TDI in your current Fabia is a very good lump for high mileages, rather noisy around town but good on the motorway. I think the smaller engines would be hard pressed to equal its motorway abilities though they might be a wee bit more frugal
  4. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere and apologies for the many questions... Our Fabia II 1.9tdi is just over 5 years old. The book says the alarm lasts 5 years. The alarm has started misbehaving. Questions: I've seen mention that on the earlier Fabia the alarm has its own batteries and that they are integral with the siren. Is this true for the Fabia II? Would a a failing alarm battery make the alarm go off? Is replacement a DIY job or a main dealer/garage job? Not sure where it is? On the Fabia II is the alarm fuse still No 60? By pressing the button on the door I have de-activated the internal sensor and this has shut it up for now...so does this actually mean it is the sensor and not the battery? There is nothing moving around in the car. Advice gratefully received...I hate alarms! Thanks Michael
  5. Sorry folks if this has been covered a hundred times. it seems that there is a difference between Fabia I and Fabia II key/security systems. For a replacement key for the Fabia II I have been quoted £116.57 for the key and £40.00 for coding (inc VAT). All from the local Skoda dealer. Is this really the only way for the technically challenged? I have one key that works fine. (I did buy another key off Fleabay for a couple of quid but understand that although it can be re-cut it cannot be re-coded if it has already been coded...one learns!) Michael
  6. When my Fabia II 1.9 tdi flashes up 'brake pads' on the dashboard does it actually mean front brake pads and not rear brake shoes? And if so, are there instructions for brake pad replacement already here? Thanks in advance Michael
  7. Any idea how to dim the dashboard lights on a Fabia II (level 3)? There is no thumb wheel next to the headlight adjusting thumb wheel and I haven't got the book to help. Thanks in advance Michael
  8. A quick hello from a new owner of a Fabia II saloon 1.9 tdi pd level 3. I'm the second owner, the car has done 65k and has already had the cam belt changed. Currently no problems and quite happy but I have broken the hinges to the rear parcel shelf already (any ideas) and...a question...is there any way to dim the dashboard lights? Michael
