Well I will be saying Good Bye to my Skoda Fabia Y reg in the not too distant future. But I am hoping my next car will be another Fabia just a few years younger. I might finally get to press buttons to lock my car rather than use a key. So I just need to find my new Fabia.

Hello all, so the saga of my little car continues the good news is radiator done cost £60 plus VAT and better news my Dogbone is fine however my gearbox is starting to sound well clunky and a bit noisy at times but not all the time. If it needs changing that is £1000. I did have working horn just not sounding too good I now have no sound coming out of horn at all. Other than that she sounds and works perfectly.

Hi all I have a 1.4 MPi its the Comfort. It's all certainly sounding not too expensive and I have friendly mechanic so cost of doing it will be very little. The trouble is we have had a run of bits going but I suspect each item has been masking the noise or the next problem. I knew you lot would have the answer between you. In case your wondering I am a female who only knows a bit about her car and you lot usually have the answer I need. :clap:

If what has gone wrong costs a lot of money then I will be looking at getting a new car. So I need engine mounting we are not sure which one so are any of them expensive and I do need a new radiator. So costs please am I looking at more than £200 for both for just parts. The engine mounting that has gone makes it possible to rock engine back and forth reasonably easily. Thanks an information would be great

I had my angle sensor go it was replaced and all was well until this morning some two weeks later when a certain power steering light came back on. It has been very cold here and wet so could it just be a glitch or am I staring at the same problem again. The part was not cheap so I hope that is not the problem but if not what else could it be. Any ideas. Thanks

I already had my power steering light on and now I have EPC light as well.

You may be right does sound only on left side of car if you undo the bonnet when its doing it. We live in the countryside and with all the combining at the moment dust and grim everywhere so that is possible.

In all this hot weather had heater on full cold and all doing well till tonight went to move car and when I turned on engine heard strange flapping sound which I located to the heater controls I had left on so turned them off and sound went away turned back on and sound came back. Car is already having electrical and power steering issues at this rate I may well be getting another car instead of fixing my Fabia. So please any ideas what is going on and is it cheap to fix. Thanks.

Strange question but please bear with me. Could all this wet weather be affecting my steering and the sensor and pump only I have realised that when the weather is not wet ie not raining my light does not seem to come on I do still have noises from steering motor and lights still flicker but not as much so I was wondering if water could be getting in somehow and if it is what is the best thing to do next. Also once car is warm flickering seems less and noise from pump you can not hear. Thanks

Well it passed its MOT the light on the dashboard is not coming on and once warm the headlights do not flicker and you can not hear the power steering motor but the steering is now going light and heavy.

My problem is still here after change of tyre and steering being checked and tyre balanced but now the whiring of the power steering motor and when lights are on the flicking of them only happen when the car is cold once the car is just a bit warm so temperture needle is off the mark then the noise stops or gets less noisy and the lights don't flicker. Please any idea's what is going on it has its MOT this week and must pass.

Great now at least I have an idea of what is going on.

OK that's making it sound worse not better as my mechanic he has worked with cars 42 years did not know that.

Not possible as its electric no fluid to check. That is one thing I do know.

OK I know lots of people have had powersteering problems but I think mine might be different. So a couple of weeks ago going round a deep corner to the left my steering went very light like being on ice but never heavy. I live in the country and at the moment they are carting sugar beet everywhere so I assumed it was mud on the road but to be sure I checked my tyres and yes I do need front right. So that's about to be done but then a couple of days after that I was heading out and my power steering light came on my dashboard after I stopped and turned off then on nothing but I noticed you can now hear the motor whining and when it does and my lights are on they flicker. My friendly mechanic who will be changing my tyre fears its going to need to go to a dealer to reset the sensor is he right. Is the problem a big one that will be expensive or easy and cheap to deal with. I am a female who does not understand cars except for checking oil and water and tyres.

Fabia 1.4 between 8 and 10k per year usually nearer the 8k.

OK going to change gear I put foot on clutch and instead of feeling lots of pressure behind it as the clutch goes down like you normally get with a clutch although there is pressure its not as much just like you get when your clutch is going to stop working. I hope that makes sense.

Hi all As I am a girl I probably don't know the right words so bear with me. My Fabia Comforts clutch keeps going light like its not working properly or about to not work at all. She is a Y reg so is rather old now and I don't know if anything has ever been done to her clutch. Any ideas as to what is going on and what is best to do about it would be really useful. Thanks

Problem solved it was a fuse in the end

Took mum shopping while trying to work out why my heater which I was hoping would keep us cool is now as of yesterday not working well there is some air but turn nob with numbers on it and no difference. Although you can make what air there is cold or warm but theres not much of it. But my bad starting problem has been solved and we have given up on the misfiring we will wait till its more annoying and then try to deal with it. 14 July I will have had her a year and until about two months ago I had had very little trouble. Grrrrrr

OK after working well all winter keeping me warm I turned it to cold turned it on and nothing not even on 4 when standing still when on the move you get a gentle bit of moving air which does not change which number its on and you can change where it comes from still and change it to hot or cold so is it the switch gone or the fan and am I looking at yet another bill.
