  1. I thought it would be more than the VRS but I was surprised when I checked, the cars worth about 29k I think and still worked out cheaper.. I don't understand this company car stuff lol. I be paying £118 a month but obvs get taxed on top the vrs was around 130. Not sure if it's just our lease company has got a good deal on them or something. Yea that was a big thing the headlights are so different. I really wanted the rebel blue but they've stopped it :(. Glad your still enjoying the VRS love them. If I was buying one for personal would had the vrs over the Volvo.
  2. I looked at both the GTD and VRS and test drove both for a company car. Then someone mentioned the Volvo V40 D4 R design. The car has 190 bhp and 99co2 the car was 3k more to buy as I've had the nav plus in bright silver with winter pack but still worked out £23 a month cheaper. Plus its quicker than both the GTD and VRS, don't get me wrong the golf stuck to the road around bends a lot better but the v40 was not far off. It's one of the most all rounded cars I have drove I can see it being a joy to drive long miles. I'm waiting for it to arrive 10-12 weeks :( but I would recommend going to a Volvo dealer and having a look. If your like me soon as they mentioned Volvo was like nope, but glad they did. Probably get hammered bringing a Volvo on to a skoda forum but worth a look if it works out a lot cheaper!
  3. Glad they have made a good job and its like new! Thanks for letting me know the extras you have I would probs just have the black pack plus and electric mirrors. I am on car watch at the minute and I'm changing my mind daily... actually seems to be every hour when I notice a car on the road! Seen a BMW 220d series M sport in Alpine white I beleive and that looked a nice motor! Had a look and the 190bhp does 0-60 in 7 seconds and claims around 68mpg with CO2 of 107 grams! Have you had any experience of BMW's? or has anyone had/drove a 2 series? Its a coupe but might just be practical enough... see what I mean I love my cars and think it will take ages for me to decide !
  4. Did you get the dent repaired through insurance? I just have a basic new Skoda Octavia at the minute as a hire car and I get the same on the motorway without mine even being a VRS! I am just waiting for my new contract to come through now and I will get a pin to sign into the Lex website to pick a car! Looking forward to it the only thing that has put me off though is the dealer said they have a new face lift model coming out in 2017. I also sat in a 2016 Audi A4 Sline and the new interior is just unreal was so much better than any car I have ever been in. But I see it coming down to can I see my self driving an A4, 3 series, C class and I don't think I can. I'm 24 and I think the body style and the grunt of the TDI vrs offers everything I need at a snap of the price. I need to over look the badge appeal and go with a car that puts a smile on my face on all styles of driving every day not just motorway miles. Once I get my login I will let you know my build spec with extras and see if you would recommend any further extras or confirm there not needed. Just a quick one does the car come with front and rear parking sensors as standard?
  5. It's ok checked the website and the Co2 is the same for both 18s and 19s =)!
  6. Glad you like it! Think it will be the hatch for me, I can't really warrant an estate only have a laptop for work. The aggressive looks and performance have really pulled me in as well. I'm like you been spoilt with a wide range of hire cars for company use! Just a quick question did the bigger wheels impact the Tax at all ? Just wondering because on some cars it does. If not the black plus pack will be an option with front assist (for stop start traffic on motorways saved me a couple of times in the golf!) Would you recommend any other options since having the car? I know you like the electronic boot but I don't really use the boot just place bag on back seat!
  7. I had the Fabia VRS it was a 10 plate it was a pain, problem after problem when working it was a joy but that was about 20% of the time! I would stay away I lost all trust in skodas. But I have read so much good reviews of the new Octavia its turns my head! Just getting back on here as I've been looking at an Octavia vrs TDI for a company car of all goes well. Love this thread really answers a lot of questions I had! I was looking at Audi a4s but like you said the price with options is high ! The vrs with the options I would like is still 5-6k cheaper! I'm lucky with work though we can pick most cars I can think off so got some decisions!
  8. Yea dude traded it in didint get a bad price on the new car so was happy They wasn't willing to fix the problems as warranty ended on the 04.08.13 and the price was just adding up and how they where being just really was doing my head in and was to much hassle

  20. They have told me the breather mod has worked since they did the last tests , when I questioned this they said most of these mods work for the oil consumption problem. How will I find out if the spark plugs where done or not at 40k will customer care know this ? I have used about 2 and half litres of oil since November around 5 k miles I believe , Don't know the best way to measure it but would be very handy to know ! Problems where to start will do a list: Central locking Bluetooth Arm wrest fell off boot panel clips broke Back firing window seals ESP light and engine management light kept coming on (Advised nothing wrong with the car , had to get videos to prove this !!! ) Even though they should show on code finder Oil tests Most of these I had to go up 2 or 3 times before anything was done I probably have forgotten some problems. I am dealing with Skoda customer care and I can not fault them , they are very helpful and very easy to deal with Just really don't trust the car anymore and really not enjoying it , all I get is sorry Mr Kimberley we will look in to the problem, I just can't see how it can go from using loads of oil making all the plugs black, throwing smoke out back to not using any oil what so ever in the 300 miles they tested it. Wish I did measurements through out the test to see how much it actually used.
  21. I know it's girly but I took the new mazda mx5 for a spin and it is the best feeling car I have drove ... Retractable hardtop and the face lift model , don't get me wrong not as quick as the vrs but a lot more fun !!!
  22. Would any body be able to tell me how much oil these cars should be using in 300 miles for skoda to provide a new engine ?
  23. The ecu and breather mod where both added to the car in October I got the car in November. The spark plugs are just pure black and they had to clean them they said. Gone to get the car today and they have said the car hasn't used hardly any oil using about 0.156 of a litre. So I have a car that drives like 1/2 of the car when I bought it and skoda will not do anything about it due to no problems I have been up to skoda around about 10 times since November with a number of problems and I have really just come to the end of it . To pay of the finance I will need £9600 but they will only give me around £7500 for the car Really don't know where to go with this I can't afford the time of work to keep taking the car to skoda with the hassle I am really thinking about taking a 2k loss on the car Not ideal but I really can't put up with it anymore
  24. Sorry for late response been busy , it wasn't a demo car but the history would indicate the previous owner got rid after the first oil consumption tests. If it has a new engine I would definitely be after a 12 month extended warranty for free , are the new engines a lot better then ? Cos been so close to get rid . I have around 48k miles on the car . My brothers Octavia vrs eats the fabia alive think this may because how bad it is running at the moment
