  1. I have a 2.0 TDI PD that has 20,000 miles on the clock and has only been driven by me from new. It has developed a judder when pulling away from cold. The judder goes away after a few clutch take up operations and is OK when warmed up. Just before the judder gets better it tends to bite agressively before take up. Is this anything to worry about and will a dealer be interested in this problem as it is not present all the time. The car is still under warranty. I have read about DMF problems on this site and wondered if this was the begining of something. Thanks for any comments in advance!
  2. Thanks for your reply, from my latest figures and your calculation looks like mine needs to adjusted to 92% if my default is 100%.
  3. Does anyone know if it is possible for the dealer to make a correction to the MPG readout to make it read correctly. Mine has consistantly read 9% lower than the calculated MPG for the last 8 months.
  4. My 2.0TDi will give 51 MPG calculated and a computer reading of 46 MPG, mainly driving in rush hour traffic.
  5. Don't rely on the computer for an accurate reading, that can be as much as 10% out ! Check the consumption the old fashioned way.
  6. Yes I had the same problem, it was totally cured by the dealer reflashing the software on the ECU, 20 minute job.
  7. Quote from my manual :- The switch for the luggage compartment lighting is located in the tailgate lock and cannot be replaced individually. Sounds exspensive!
  8. I had this with my Elegance model and the dealer was no help whatsoever, making me feel like I was imagining it!! Now got Ambiente model, and with it's less complicated controls have not had any problems with sticking and ticking flaps plus the wrong temperatures. I hope you have more luck with your dealer.
  9. Mine had the same problems with starting, hesitant followed by eventual starting and a puff of smoke. First dealer checked it and said no fault codes so could not diagnose a fault. Second dealer more helpful, read fault codes again but nothing to see. They then reinstalled the ECU software that took around 20 minutes and so far I have not had anymore starting issues.
  10. This is from the Octavia manual EngineApproximative oil capacity with oil filter change1.4 ltr./55 kW3.2 ltr.1.6 ltr./75 kW4.5 ltr.1.6 ltr./85 kW3.2 ltr.1.9 ltr./77 kW4.3 ltr.2.0 ltr./100 kW3.8 ltr.2.0 ltr./103 kW3.8 ltr.2.0 ltr./103 kW TDI DPF4.3 ltr.2.0 ltr./110 kW4.6 ltr.2.0 ltr./147 kW4.7 ltr.
  11. The service indicator is not that clever, it does not monitor oil quality. I have changed my oil in between services and made a note of the before and after servce readings and seen no change. The service interval is based on your style of driving, short / long runs etc.
  12. You can use a trolley jack with a rubber pad to lift on the offside front cill in the position marked with an arrow indentation seen when you open the drivers door. The under tray then needs to be removed, 11 torx headed screws. The sump plug is located at the rear of the sump and requires 30NM of torque when replacing it. To remove the filter cap you will have to remove the engine top plastic cover where the oil filler is, this is fixed by three pull off fixings, two at the front and one on the near side rear and then pulling the assembly forward from a rubber mount left rear. To remove the filter cap you will need a 32mm socket. The filter is a cartridge type and comes witha new 'o' ring for the cap. Replacing the cap will need a torque setting of 25NM firstly, and then a further 5NM. I bought 9 litres of Castrol Edge for £52 inclusive from ebay, and the filter + sump plug was £8 from a dealer. Hope this helps.
  13. I have done exactly as you have suggested, filter and plug only £8 from dealers.
  14. Don't worry, I have just changed my oil and filter at 9000 miles with 7600 miles to go on the service indicator. The service interval has not changed after 4.5L of fresh oil, I don't think it is that clever!!
  15. I have the same problem from cold. If my car is started from cold driven from the garage to the drive and switched off and restarted a few minites later it will splutter and run at slow rpm before picking up to inormal idle rpm. Sometimes it won't restart for two to three attempts but when it does it is followed by a cloud of white smoke! The dealer checked the car out and said the diagnostic computer says it is OK. Not sure what to do next. I have used mainly Esso fuel in mine.
