  1. I'm glad someone said that because I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to appear stupid! Would that really be the case or would the effect be less dramatic to the fuelling if the line is taken from the carbon can?
  2. What about a new topic? Subject? OCD of course (Octavia Compulsive Disorder).
  3. I can see your point but unfortunately i can't help but want the car to be as sweet as possible and without any issues at all. I am also a little OCD about completely irrelevant things like setting all the air vents symetrically and putting the rear seatbelts in their holders when the kids aren't in the car. Its just me and i know that others couldn't care less about these small issues. For example, the drivers window switch will only work on the one shot mode so it will soon be changed - some would say a pointless execise as it still does the job perfectly ok. Don't get me wrong, i'm certainly not a polisher and am not adverse to caning the living daylights out of the car when the fancy takes me but I just want the car to be as faultless as is possible.
  4. Thank you. I have a freind with a vRS of similar vintage and he has the same problem but it is nowhere NEAR as bad as mine. The resonance some days can be VERY loud and VERY obtrusive And the issue is made even more embarrasing by the fact that most people who have no interest in cars or are easily influenced by common misconceptions, hear the car making such a racket, see the badge, and, incorrectly confirm to themselves and those around that Skodas really are a pile of usless crap.
  5. Thats interesting. Does that mean ALL model variations of the Zafira have the counterbalance. Thats the first time i've heard of that on the Briskoda forums. That could be the answer as i'm not adverse to a little bit of fettling to make something fit. I shall look into that. If it is a common part on the Zafira then a breakers yard would do the trick at a fraction of the cost of the Skoda part. I just can't understand why no-one else has picked up on this Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
  6. I tried this fix some weeks ago and it just hasn't cured the problem fully. Driving me crazy. Trying to get the Skoda "fix" kit but my main dealer has told me today that it is no longer showing that these are available! Tried chamfering the pads as well as making sure the pistons are not seized. The discs are in excellent order and the handbrake is not binding. The more i think about it the more it infuriates me. All in the mind I suppose and I should just turn up the stereo. I now resort to pulling up the handbrake a little if reversing when around people, if only to avoid the embarassment of driving what they percieve as being a pile of crap! Add the noise to the Skoda badge and to the un-educated that is usually the result.
  7. Thanks Radiotwo. I will give them a go Monday and see what they come up with.
  8. Hi all. Mooing on my vRS is now driving me mad. Chamfered the pads, tried Sharan springs etc etc and have now decided to buy the Skoda kit. However, armed with the part no (1J0698998) i have been told by the dealer at Forest Gate London that there is no longer any listing for this kit. So. Does anyone know where to get the kit from, or which Vw cars (there is a main dealer close by) had the same update available along with the respective part numbers? Thanks in advance. Peter.
  9. Justin and 999pooch. How very unfair nature can be and I sympathise. I came across this post by chance and I too am in a similar situation. My 45yr old wife is terminal and Christmas this year has been very difficult. I think that when these situations are forced upon us we can feel very isolated, but upon reading forums such as this we realise that so many people are experiencing the same things day in and day out. It's not so much as a consolation as a rude awakening to the reality of life. I have been angry, upset, numb and resigned to the fact that there is little that can be done. I am slowly adjusting to working 6 days a week and bringing up three boys at the same time. The worst thing is when she is feeling at her best and not on the morphine it's hard to believe thet this evil disease is going to take her away from the family. She has never smoked or drank and proves the point that this curse is very indiscriminate. As I told my children when I had to explain the situation, the have had something that a lot of kids never got. A doting mum who loves them unconditionally and a strong family bond that no-one could ever deny. Now is the time to speak with your loved ones as much as possible and spend time with them if at all viable. It will make their passing just a little easier to bear. My thoughts are truly with you both.
  10. Used AmD for my stage 1 chip and would like to try another garage just to compare with a different set-up. I have no complaints with AmD but I found it a little bit "glam" for want of a better word with very little customer interaction. As I said, they did a satisfactory job but I always find more interaction with the technichian working on my cars a little more to my liking.
  11. Hi all. I need to pick your wise old collective brains. Last night the n/s front spring went bang and although under most other circumstances I would change them myself I just can't find the motivation to get out in the garage at the moment and do the work. So, some advice please. The car is an '04 vRS, 76,000 miles and is on It's original shocks and, I assume springs. Now. The car is used for the daily commute so I dont want anything too radical fitted but am open to the option of some small improvements over the original setup, but not at the expense of ride comfort. What i need is to find a garage who have experience with the vRS, can inspect the car and advise me as to which springs to use in conjunction with the standard shocks (if they are still doing the job to a good standard) and can also supply and fit a RARB at the same time. Is there anyone out there who is highly regarded, approachable and won't try to stitch me up? As with all my vehicles, past and present, once i find a place that ticks all the boxes for me then I tend to stay loyal to that institution until I sell the car. Thanks in advance.
  12. If you search my post "amd remap today" which is a couple of weeks old now it will give you a picture of my dyno chart from a stage 1 remap i had done. Yours does seem a tad peaky but the proof they say is in the driving. I too got less power increase than expected but the torque improvement was far greater than anticipated and is very noticeable . Only trouble now is keeping the power down in this weather. Wheelspin in second gear is prevalent on all but the driest tarmac even though it is a smooth map.
  13. Great Post! I have just bought a set or sharan springs which are the same - part nos.W7HO 615 295/296 from my local VW Dealer. £5.02???? The price differences between dealers for the same product never ceases to amaze me. Better than paying another £100 for the Skoda Official mod - if it works.
