Hello folk! Does anyone know what's the Kodiaq four wheel drive system? Is it an always on AWD? Or just when it senses? If it's only when required, is it a Front Wheel or Rear Wheel drive? I have read on these forums how some people are retrofitting the Off Road button on a Kodiaq. Why doesn't Skoda give it as standard as in the magnificent Yeti?

I unfortunately got the fix yesterday (in India). My Yeti 4X4 2012 had a routine annual maintenance appointment, and after leaving the car, the service guy called to check if I wanted it. I asked what it does, and he replied "nothing in particular it's a routine upgrade". In the middle of work and meetings, in a hurry, I said yes. When I went to pick the car I asked him what the upgrade does. He wasn't coherent. He did mention I wouldn't feel any difference in performance. That to me, is a polite way of saying the performance will reduce, but not by much. Don't know if it's psychological, but I do feel the car doesn't pull as strongly as it used to from first gear the moment you start releasing the clutch (something that I really enjoyed). Meaning low rpm torque has reduced? I have sent an email to Skoda asking them for details of what they have done. Haven't heard from them yet. Is there any way to undo this?

I too am confused about my upcoming Yeti upgrade. My car will be 5 years old in a few months. I love it, but would want something with slightly more luggage space, especially since we do a lot of road trip with friends. THere isn't enough luggage space for 4 people for 10 days' trip including cameras, laptops and tripods. The Kodiaq seems too large. We have trouble finding parking and also in narrow rural lanes, it's an issue. I guess, here in India, if VW launches the Tiguan, it may be an option. The LR Discovery a sport is more than twice the price of Yeti here.

Hello. My Yeti 4X4 is over 4 years old and has driven 44000 km only. With these intense monsoon rains of India, I had a terrible case of fungus all over my car interiors (It hadn't been drive for about 15 days). Now, I am getting a yellow Steering Wheel Error, and the ABS and Electronic Stability error lights. Especially when I switch on the car, but sometimes they both go away. I need to drive some 2000 km. Is it ok to continue like this? I couldn't get a last minute service appointment, and with the shop closed over the weekend, I was wondering. The manual says these could be linked to the Electronic Differential Lock. Is there anyway for me to find out of its ok to continue a long drive without damaging anything or causing any errors or accidents?

Thanks for the replies. It seems one of the tyres was very unevenly worn with the depth reduced to 1mm as opposed to the legally permitted minimum of around 1.6. I don't know how that happened because the car didn't seem to have an alignment issue earlier (I regulalry get the wheel alignment checked and the car has never pulled left or right earlier). The other three had different but similar depths, ranging from around 1.8 upwards till around 2.6 different from edge to edge. I ordered all four new tyres, want to be comfortable and safe because I drive a lot in the highways. I hope I didn't make an expense earlier than was necessary.

Hello. My 3.75 years old Yeti has been pulling heavily to the right. I got the wheel alignment done from the service centre but it still pulls to the right. They say the tyres are worn and I need new tyres else it can't be aligned. Is this true? My car has run some 38,000 km plus and the wheels are worn alright, but almost at the threshold. Also, I got the Electronic Stability Control error on my dashboard. The service centre says that too is related to worn out tyres. That could be true, but could that also be related to a low battery? Ideally I would like to stretch my tyres for another few months, only keeping in mind the expense. But if it has to be done, it has to be done. Advice sought.

It's never been to a panel shop. The service guys have ordered a new 'cluster' for me. Let's see when does it arrive. Thankfully it's covered under extended warranty.

The car is a little over 3.5 years old, but yes, moisture and battery could be issues. Where I live, humidity is just a tad less than under the ocean. Again, since it's been over 3.5 years, I had raised the issue of battery as well with the service centre and they claimed It ok. Is there a recommended battery spec? Anyway I can test it on my own? The engine compartment and battery terminals look clean. The car is generally well maintained and has logged only some 27000 km.

I wonder what would make it go kaput!

Hello. My Yeti had a strange problem. When I switch he Off Road button on, the tyre pressure indicator, alternator indicator, the traction control indicator and one more (I forget which one) glow in the dashboard. When I switch the Off Road button off, all the warning indicators disappear. When I swicth the left indicator, the alternator and headlight warning Indicators blink. The Skoda service centre says my 'cluster' is damaged. Just curious, what does that mean? Incidentally I have extended warranty, but just wanted to know exactly what could be the issue.

Hmmm... my other car, a Suzuki Swift, apparently had a rusted cowl drain from blocked leaves. And last year the Skoda service guy said my drain was clogged with leaves and charged me for fixing it. The hose idea sounds good. Plus I must remember to cover the car now.

Hello. My Yeti had ben parked under a tree for close to a month, while I was away. Now the heavy Indian monsoons have started and I have noticed he cowl was full of leaves which have found their way into the drainage. Any way I can clean this myself? I suspect wet and rotting leaves will make the inside panels rust faster than they should.

Hello gentlemen. I am extremely annoyed at people parking their cars right within one foot of my Yeti and causing dents and scratches on my car every time they open their door. Can't change the habit of an entire population, and can't afford running to the service station. So I need a touch up paint kit. Which one is best? I am in india, and the Skoda dealers here don't sell paint kits. They are happier charging bigger money on paint jobs. I have found this on Amazon UK. Is this sufficient? They claim their paint doesn't require a lacquer. What's the advice? I have read on earlier threads on these forums (but some of them are two years old so I started a new one) about some paint kits which come with primers, sandpaper, lacquer etc. do I need one of those? I also need to buy from someone who is willing to ship it to india (of course, I will pay). The place where I live is hot and humid with three months on continuous rains. So rust protection would be needed. Advice please...

Hello! Has anyone tried a scratch touch up paint pen? If yes, what's the advise on which one to buy etc? Does it match the colour of the original paint (of course, after allowing for normal wear and tear/weather related discolouration). I have a Yeti, Mato Brown, and thee are some tiny scratches that are too small for a door paint job, and yet, enough to annoy me...

BossFox is right. And i got my answers from all the wonderful replies. I had read the manual, but the service guy was giving me a different story. (Skoda India service has a rather sad reputation). The sevice guy told me if I drove at high speeds with the 4x4 button switched on, i could risk damaging the car. But again, he seemed a little unsure himself. So i thought I should get this checked. Considering that fact that the Yetis has a very refined and modern tech driving it, i didnt thing this should be the case. But then again, its always better to ask. Ad thanks for all the replies.
