  1. I'm still hoping to get there. It's my nephews birthday and I got to go there, so I'll be checking in on here when we leave Southampton to see if your all still up there and we'll come straight up.
  2. Wow! That was superb, the man is a legend! He has sorted the problem in 15 mins when 2 different Skoda dealers couldn't do it in 7 months! Thanks for arranging the day, hope to see you soon.... I owe you a large beer.
  3. If you were to fit a decent 4 channel amp you could use the front channels to run the front speakers and the rear channels bridged to run a sub. This would greatly improve the sound. If the amp was 2ohm stable you could use the front channel to run all 4 speakers but would loose the fader(not to much of an issue) the real beauty of amount the factory speakers up is that you can use tha amps cross overs to filter the deep bass (below about 80 hz) off of them meaning they can play the frequencies they can reproduce well at a good volumn and quality and put those frequencies below about 100hz to the sub. Saying that I'm working on you wanting to run a 10" sub if it was a 12" sub I'd say below about 80hz but its all down to the listener. This is what I've done in my wife's monte and it sounds really nice, the swing head unit has bass/mid/treble controls so you can set it up quite nicely. Hope this helps, feel free to come back to me if I can help anymore.
  4. Leave a window open lock the car with one push. Wait 45 secs for the system to arm all circuits and then wave an arm around frantically inside the cabin through the window and see if it goes off
  5. ...... My mates having to drive it down with me travelling shot gun as the wife's at work and I've had a heart attack and heart surgery this week so I'm not allowed to drive :-(
  6. Ooh excited! Just got the Monte back from Skoda today and its pulling left worse than when it went in!
  7. Hope everything is ok for the weekend and the 9:30 slot is still mine? Cars in Winchester motor co. tomorrow for another foc tracking check and the for them to repair the chunk they took out the alloy when they fitted the foc front tyres :-( regardless of how straight they do or don't get it tomorrow I still want it done Saturday.... I have suspicions of a bent rear axel so I don't think they'll ever get it straight!
  8. Just noticed something else from your original post. 200w speakers, take it that's a max handling not an RMS handling? If you just want some speakers to run off a head unit you should look for something with a low RMS rating as your h.u. only puts out about 25w so you will never drive a high power speaker properly and all you will end up with is a lot of harsh treble and poor bass response. How about some Alpine Type S, they are a bit 'electronic' sounding but good value for money and have a very low RMS so you will drive them properly.
  9. Id stay clear of the back shelf as well as you will be changing the staging by putting the sealers in the wrong axis...... It will give the effect of going to a concert and standing with your back to the band. How about something like Focal? All of they're ranges sound amazing but they're not the cheapest speakers about.
  10. The line level converter would sort out your remote issue and may regulate the sound to the amp a bit better but I would ASAP put a smaller fuse on the remote, if it was to out 9 or 10 amps through that circuit of the amp it would kill it. Most remotes are rated between .8 and 1.2 amps. What amp is it, if its doing strange things with the bass notes are you sure it's set up properly?
  11. Hi guys, I have been heavily into car audio for 22 years now. I've run a stereo shop and auto electrical work shop and although I've been out of the trade for 2 years now I know a bit! Lol! If there is anything you want to know please ask. Although there is plenty of people on here who obviously know they're stuff I have read a few posts where weekend warriors are making suggestions which aren't good and some of them are fire hazards and dangerous! I'm not saying this to put any noses out of joint or big myself up, I'm saying it because I want to help, because I love I.C.E. and well I'm just a nice guy :-0 Rule 1 is if you spend a £1000 on ICE equipment it's gonna cost you the thick end of £100 or more to connect it up properly. Don't expect to wire it up with a bit of bell cable and get show stopping sound. 50p of cable = 50p of quality! I'm not going to bang on for ever, which I could quite easily do but I'm here please use me!
  12. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/con-sli2-connection-sli2-2-channel-line-level-convertor.html Keep finding different posts which all need this same bit of kit... Use the bit I've put above, it'll sort all your issues! Don't pick up the trigger from the fuse box or anywhere else or when you switch the car on and off you will get a thump through the speakers and the same when switching the radio on and off when the car is running. The trigger is designed to take a milliamperes input if you put to much current through it you will destroy your amp eventually and every time the amp is on without the radio it will slowly damage the amp.
  13. Try this bit of kit: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/con-sli2-connection-sli2-2-channel-line-level-convertor.html Cheaper than the Audison one but does the same. There is a 4 channel version as well.
