  1. I'm kinda new to all this but have been thinking about adding CC to my '07 Mk2 (Non FL) Octy 1.9 PD Classic Estate for some time as I do a lot of motorway miles. I Have VCDS but only used it to diagnose an engine fault (Throttle Position Sensor). I've not done any coding but am confident to tackle this after reading this thread. I have a 1K0 953 549 BB steering module. From this page; http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions I don't think this module will allow CC to be retrofitted and therefore I need to upgrade the module but I'm not sure about this. Please can someone advise if I need to upgrade my Steering module and if so, what to and also which stalk module I need to get? This is the text from the steering module from my last scan; Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 BB HW: 1K0 953 549 BB Component: Lenksäulenmodul 036 0070 Coding: 0000002 Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000 VCID: 73E1DBFF6B25 Many thanks James.
  2. Hi all, I know this has been kind of covered in different posts but I am confused. I am new to Skoda Modding and have just received my VCDS Dongle and on scanning the modules in my car, this is the info about the steering module; Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 BB HW: 1K0 953 549 BB Component: Lenksäulenmodul 036 0070 Coding: 0000002 Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000 VCID: 73E1DBFF6B25 The Ross-Tech site gives this info about my module; http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions 1K0-953-549-BB Type 2 SW 0070 Lowline Yes - - 1K0-953-549-BC Type 2 SW 0070 Midline Yes - #1 1K0-953-549-BD Type 2 SW 0070 Highline Yes 1.3 #2 Slip Rings Type 1: 1K0-959-653 and 1K0-959-653-A Type 2: 1K0-959-653-C and 1K0-959-653-D [*]Variants Lowline: No additional Options/Features Midline: Cruise Control, Board Computer Highline: Cruise Control, Board Computer, Multi-Function Steering Wheel [*]Steering Angle Sensor Yes: The Steering Angle Sensor (G85) is installed directly at the Steering Wheel/Slip Ring. No: The Steering Angle Sensor (G85) is part of the Electro Mechanical Steering Assist. [*]Notes: #1: Does NOT allow Cruise Control Retrofitting, in such a Case you need to replace the Steering Wheel Control Module. #2: Manual Transmission only, does NOT support Ignition Key Lock. So, I have the LowLine Module which will need replacing. I would like the option of a MFSW in the future so will need a HighLine module. My question is, With which module? How do I work this out? Do I just go for the 1K0-953-549-BD or is it more complicated than that? If so, What implication does the LIN Version and the note #2 have, if any? Once I have sorted this out I then need to find a CC Stalk that is compatible, my plan for this is eBay (for both parts) unless anyone has a better parts source. Any assistance on VCDS coding will be greatfully received also. Thanks in advance.
  3. Just a quick up-date to this. After struggeling to find a replacement switch without going to my local Skoda dealership I resorted to DIY. The switch came apart quite easily. What I did not expect was to find a SPIDER (dead) within the switch!! After a quick clean up of the contacts (and removal of said corpse) the windows returned to normal function!!
  4. Thank you Trevor, I just need to find a local VCDS now.
  5. Ok, up-date, Battery @ 12.42v engine off 14v when running. Thinking this is not the issue? I put the drivers window down when the engine was running (parked on the drive) and the auto didn't work. It wouldn't go back up however, when using the key hold trick (hold at lock = windows up. Hold at unlock = windows down. Learnt from these forums, Thank you.) the windows behave as expected. Any ideas? MAny thanks.
  6. Hi all, Ive just had a brief look throught the posts on here and there seem to be many about windows opening themselves but mine have today become intermittant all together. I was driving along (after about a 30ish mile drive) and I decided to open the drivers window however the passenger window went down! I closed this then neither window will go down. Only front are electric. To complicate it, I stopped in a garage and as I left I opened the drivers window (auto-pilot!) and the window stopped itself half way down and the switches became inoperative again. I stopped at some traffic lights and just for the hell of it I turned the engine off and took the key out, restarted and was able to put the window back up! This doesn't appear to be a fuse blown issue. Possibly a loose connector or is there a dedicated window controller that could be screwed? Any ideas please? Does anyone know of a member in West Somerset with VCDS? Just about to check the battery voltage just in case, will post if an issue. Many thanks.
  7. We have Scouts as Ambulance response cars (yep, with all the 'bells and whistles') and they are truely great to drive! I have to admit that eco-driving is not exactly at the front of our minds tho I will try and remember to get the MPG when I'm next in one of them, as it could be interesting. One thing I know for sure... I WANT ONE!!!
  8. I Like! I think its a clever and subtle way of tying everything together, rims, lower grill, roof rails and tinted windows. I'm getting more and more ideas of what I want to do to my Octy. And I thought I'd brought me a cheap run-around!
  9. The contacts within mine were coroded so much that it wouldn't work. I've no idea if this was just down to abuse of the socket by the previous owner or a weakness with the part. I brought a 'fiberglass pencil' from maplin to clean the contacts and hey presto, fault fixed... http://www.maplin.co...ass-pencil-3932 Hope this helps.
  10. Ah! Thats how it's done!! Thank you! Nearly 6 years later and still helping.
