  1. Problem found and fixed. As most of you predicted the clutch was at fault. The clutch plate had fractured in two different places, so the whole clutch was changed at £286 Sounds like something that was gradually getting worse and worse until gears just didnt engage At least the problem is now sorted Thanks folks
  2. Cheers guys for the feedback!! The car is still drivable, although you do have to really force each gear (especially 1 and 2). Defo easier to pop the gears in 3,4,5. When in first there is a shudder from the car on take off. All gears once engaged, stay engaged fine and as I say the car is drivable but very difficult!!! Im hoping it is a clutch it needs only!
  3. cheers mate, ill hope my mechanic has the same diagnosis!!! thanks so much everyone
  4. What else i have noted from driving the car over the past 1k miles is that most times when in the higher rev range the gears would consistently be more difficult to select than when you were at lower revs trying to change gear. This help at all?
  5. Hi Ilmor, No I did not mate. As I said it drove about 100 miles fine yesterday. Then today after 10 miles of town driving the gear changes were not easily possible unless engine was turned off. The gears do change when engine is running if you force them, it is as if the clutch is not engaging?? Thanks
  6. Hi guys, Today my fabia 2.0i decided to not go into any gears at all whilst the engine is running. The car goes into gear no problems when engine turned off. It does select gears when engine on but has to be brutally pushed into each gear after several attempts. I drove it glasgow to edinburgh yesterday and all was ok. Today at the start of another journey it started playing up, but i managed to drive 100 miles by forecefully engaging each gear. Any thoughts as to what the problem may be or how i solve it? I am just praying it does not need a gearbox rebuild and hoping it is a clutch/master slave issue!!! Thanks!
  7. cheers lads i will check this gear out this evening and report back!!
  8. Hey mate, i need to double check fuse. However i thought if heat seat switches still lit up dash and passenger side seat still worked then it was unlikely to be fuse. ta
  9. Any idea how much the heating element costs to buy and where from?
  10. Hi All, Looking for some help. I was cleaning the inside of the windows and left a bottle of vinegar on the front drivers seat. I didnt notice that the lid was not tight and most contents of the bottle spilt onto the drivers seat, at rear of the base seat. Since then my drivers side heated seat has not worked. The passengers side is still working which makes me think it is not the fuse. Gutted as I love the heated seat function. Any ideas of my cheapest way to get this fixed? Is there any chance of the heater working once it dries out for a few weeks? Grrrr just passed its mot as well, from joy to dispair! Chris
  11. Nothing on ebay specific to my car. Good shout mate, I may messaging them to see if they can source one!
  12. Hi Folks, I have been scouring the net looking for where to buy a Skoda Fabia mk1 estate 2.0i exhaust from and I literally cant find anywhere at all. Not sure if I am looking in the wrong sites but im stumped and looking for some help please. It appears the 2.0i in mk1 fabia estate form is rare as hens teeth?! I would rather not go down the custom route as I see this as being expensive and not something I need at this moment in time! Any suggestions would be fab!! Thanks Folks
  13. Hi All I have just purchased a Black skoda fabia estate mark one 2.0i in lovely condition. Car has done 100k, but engine seems very good so far. I have never owned a Skoda before, all be it due to the badge image. But im glad I have got over that daft hinderence and entered the Skoda world. So far my impressions of the badge are very good! Well built cars for sure.
