  1. Update: As I had nothing to lose I went out with some fine wet and dry sandpaper and some Farecla G3 Pro Paint Renovator polish and I've managed to achieve a smooth finish without removing the tint. Probably should have tried this first.
  2. Yes I think I'll buy the Foliatec tint remover spray, remove all the tint and sell these rear clusters on ebay. Then I'll buy the FL rear lights instead :coffee: :S which look way better! maybe the LED versions I've seen.
  3. Can anybody explain what system components actually make up the climatronic air conditioning system in our cars? I'm aware that the condenser is the small black radiator at the very front of the engine bay with pipes coming out of it but I'm not familiar with the other components. In a regular car with no air con I'm guessing the water travels around the engine bay via the heater matrix to provide cold/heat etc. My Octavia recently had a new motor flap as the driver was getting cooked, followed by a re-gas and I had nice cold AC - until this week when I have no cold AC and Skoda say the condener is at fault. They want £600 quickly reduced to £500. Local garage wants £258 although I'm skeptical they are qualified to do it properly. Condenser is only £105 at Euro car Parts or £117 at GSF or £200 from Skoda Christian
  4. Hi I've recently spray tinted the middle section of my rear light clusters to achieve a different GTI look. However, the finish has come up rough or matt like compared to the glossy smooth it was originally. Foliatec suggest nothing more than normal polish to bring out the gloss finish but it hasn't worked. I've tried a T-cut compound but again no use. Should I try a clear coat over the top to achieve the desired finish? or something else. Any help or suggestions will be greatly received. Pic attached Christian
  5. Here's the finished article courtesy of Wicked Coatings - I'm really happy with the finish and service received.
  6. Thanks Yeti_Man perhaps a Focal upgrade is the sensible option plus a http://www.noisekiller.co.uk/about_noisekiller.asp kit. By the way interested in your brake upgrades for your Yeti. Porsche 986 calipers, Mintex pads and steel lines sound comprehensive. What discs did you go with?
  7. Interesting in real life they are not two tone as they appear in images? Still look nice tho
  8. Xpower you are a legend - apologies for not logging in sooner I've been without my laptop for a while. This image looks great. Thanks for doing this.
  9. Hi Just wondered if anybody knows if the smart looking alloy wheels from the Rapid Spaceback show car are available? I found them on another Rapid. As all Skoda wheels have names I wondered if anybody might know. They look like 18" size to me. Pics attached Thanks
  10. I found a picture of a Skoda Octavia vRS interior and what appears to be a premium sound system upgrade. I understand on the new Octavia and Superb a Canton sound system is offered? I can see what appears to be a badge tacked to the speaker grill on the drivers door. The car is left hand drive model. My vRS has 8 factory speakers and I would like to upgrade the sound quality without going aftermarket although my local Skoda dealer recommends a local ICE store who in turn recommend Focal speakers to be retro fitted into the doors. I note all the sound system manufacturers who have collaborated with car manufacturers over the years do not sell or market the speakers outside the respective car manufacturer and car dealer parts department. I.m talking Bose, Dynaudio, Harmon Kardon, Mark Levinson etc. I visited Canton's website http://www.canton.de/en-home.htm but no mention of automotive products or Skoda collaboration. I was hoping that any premium factory speaker would be a nice upgrade that's guaranteed to fit perfectly come installation. Any help greatly appreciated. What size speakers are fitted to my car?
  11. Thanks for all the messages, listing ended now as item sold outside of eBay. I'll list some part numbers for people who missed out but want to source from dealer. I've noticed parts selling on certain Skoda Parts sites that sell genuine parts for more than the Skoda dealer RRP??? Always worth a phone call to your 'friendly' Skoda dealer parts dept first.
  12. Hi Thought I'd let the forum know I've listed my piano black interior trim pieces that I no longer need for my vRS. Since having the centre radio dash trim surround carbon dipped I like the carbon/aluminium contrast. The set consists of the two pieces either side of the dashboard binnacle, the gear shift surround and the main piece on the passenger side dashboard just above the glove box. I didn't get round to buying the matching piano black ashtray lid or door card trim but they are available from all Skoda dealers. EBay listing link here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-Laurent-Klement-piano-black-interior-trim-4-piece-dash-set-vrs-/141007734181?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20d4b745a5 Thanks
  13. Sorry Brimma, my mistake - I quoted the wrong person, I should have quotes Rob_e regarding the manual shift Audi gear knob. Hope Rob spots this and shares his wisdom.
  14. Hi Brimma, sorry to drag up an old thread. My local Audi dealer is not being particularly helpful to me as a Skoda owner. They refuse to accept this S knob fits. Would you be kind enough to tell me which Audi model this is from or the part number. Thanks
  15. My mate at work has a Focus RS and he recommends these tyres too - thanks Wardy-
  16. Hi I'm trying to trace the correct model and year of the Roomster model with the all red TDI badge plus a little red square? I keep finding pictures of the badge and vehicle but no registration or VIN number. If anybody knows the part number I'd be really grateful as my local Skoda dealer refuses to search ETKA without reg or VIN. I found what I thought was the part number ZNK007 on a Czech website http://www.obautodily.cz/eshop/skoda-fabia-ii-facelift/znaky-napisy/skoda-fabia-07-roomster-zadni-napis-tdi-cervene-spodni-id:7470.eshop but unable to order with them as they don't appear to deliver to UK. Please find below a picture. Thanks in advance.
  17. I'd like two of those TDI badges with the red bit for both wings of my Octavia vRS (hope to copy Audi S-line look) - what car should I tell my local Skoda dealer to look for on ETKA parts computer?
  18. Here's the latest accessories for the new Octavia http://www.skoda.lv/files/accessories/octavia.pdf
  19. Hi I like the look of the 18" Golus alloy wheels from the new Octavia III for my Octavia II vRS. Does anybody know if the offset is the same and PCD? If any of the IT whiz's on here could photoshop some Golus wheels onto a photo of the Octavia II I'd be grateful. The Golus wheel looks grey and silver in the brochure and PR pics - has anybody seen a set on a car - saying that has anyone actually seen an Octavia III on the road! Thanks
  20. Not according to this tyre calculator?http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator 225 to 235 is only an increase of 1.26% or 8mm
  21. My father has a 60-plate VW Eos with 18" wheels with factory fitted 235/40/18 Continental tyres. The Eos is the same platform as the Octavia right? Will his alloys be the same width as ours?
  22. I'm split opinion on what looks better, new or old????
  23. Great thread. My 58-plate Skoda Octavia vRS bought used last year has very noisy tyres. Mine seems to have Dunlop Sport Maxx rear and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT fronts. Is this what it came with from the factory? The car has 18" wheels with 225/40 18 tyre size. I've never had a car with a 40 profile tyre before but I'm guessing the very loud tyre noise is thanks to this. Can I simply choose a 45 profile next time.? My fathers VW Eos has 235/40 ZR18 and they look fatter. He has Continentals that appear to have a protective bulge lip around the rim. Can I fit 235 section tyres to my alloys? I'm told the sidewall profile is just a percentage of the width ie. 40% of 225mm on my car. Whatever size I choose I'll go with a different brand of tyre. I've always liked Uniroyal tyres especially as its always raining here in the UK.
