  3. My car (vRS CAVE Engine) is using 1 litre of oil every 400 miles... I tried emailing [email protected] but got an invalid email address......... My car has only done 27K.. Not sure what to do.. :-(
  4. Thanks, I've arranged for the car to go in on Monday, local skoda dealer, they are going to do some monitoring and have asked that I come in for a top up of oil, they then want me to come back after 600 miles to check it and then repeat the process again and then they will give me their conclusions... The dealer said they had two vRS in for oil monitoring tests, one needed a new oil breather pipe, but he wouldnt tell me what they did with the other vRS? Humm...
  5. Hi all, I am back and can I say a thank you to all for your comments. So I did a quick trip to the petrol station, on a cold start check, the dip stick reading was well under the half way cross zone area, when the car reached 53 degrees, I switched off and then checked the oil and I could hardly see anything in the cross hatch zone and barly some on the tip... See my pic for representation..
  6. Thanks guys - I will defo do a hot dip test and let you know... My car had its first service at 2,500 miles, it is on 9,320 miles now and its next service should be March 2014. Warrenty expires June 2014
  7. Just looking at sk4gw photo of the dip stick.. When I brought the car, the oil (on cold) was just below the orange thing (above the cross hatch area). When it went down into the cross hatch area (half way in the cross hatch area), I put in 1/4 Ltr oil, that took it above the cross hatch and then that process has been repeated. Everytime it gets half way in the cross hatch area I put in exactly 1/4 Ltr oil to bring it back to just above the cross hatch area. Am I not putting in enough? Should I be putting oil right up to the bottom of the orange zone (above the cross hatch area).. Figures are roughtly 1/4 (quarter) Ltr for every 1,100 miles...
  8. Thanks all, a lot of info to diget, in terms of right oil levels, I was always told never to fill it to the orange "blob bit". the 1/4 Quarter of oil is in Ltrs.. When I brought the car at 2,500 miles the oil dip stick was at the bottom of the Orange blob.. over time it has gone done and when it was half way in the cross hatch area I topped it up to the top of the cross hatch (with 1/4 Ltr oil) and I have been doing that ever since, every 1,100ish miles. Are we saying that I am running the car with not enough oil in it..
  9. Hi all, Its been a while since I have been on the forum, but I wanted to revist this issue of oil burning vRS's.. So I have been pretty good at keeping a record of what I put in my beloved vRS and the readings are as follows (1/4 oil every 1,100 miles) : So my question is (before the warrenty runs out in June 2014), should I be going back to the Skoda dealer and making a fuss of the amount of oil my car is using or is this in the acceptable limits of the car. (because we know that this type of car has a habit of burning oil here and there). Also if I do go back to the dealer, what should I say and what should I ask them to do.. Thanks all, advice please... oh btw, love the car besides its love for oil ofcourse!!!! See attached excel spreadsheet for figures..
  10. Does anybody know when the DSG versions will be released
  11. Does anybody know if the new vRS has configuration settings for different engine modes? "Eco, "Sport" mode for example in both the TDI and pertrol varients?
  12. Would of liked to have seen some interior pics..
  13. Oh ok... Its perfectly fine after a minute or so......... Thanks all for your responses.. I am now starting to floor it a bit... still not enough miles on him yet...
  14. Jayneyyy - Black just sets things off nicely.. she looks awesome... What the spec on yours, any extras?
  15. Hi all, Has anyone with a fabia vRS MK2 experienced any form of vibration on a cold start irrespective of the weather conditions? My car is a 2010 (registered with an 11 plate), its only done 5K as it was a show room car (s2000)... My symptoms are as follows : - Put the key in swtich on.. - Wait for the MFD to display and then for the speedo and rev counter to do their (stuff).. - I then turn the engine over. - After about 3 seconds or so, I feel a vibration, it lasts for about 4 seconds, then stops for 2 seconds and then appears again for 4 or so seconds and then thats it.. There is no unusal engine noise or slight increase in reving.. its a really difficult thing to explain...Its almost like a vibration/light murmer...... Cheers Arif
  16. An inside of my vRS : Optional extras include : - Amusden Sat Nav with bluetooth and traffic master (includes card for SD slot) - Multi functional display (maxidot) - Arm rest - Climate Control - Rear parking sensors - Rear electric windows

  18. Looks really nice.. I like the new logo and steering wheel... Wow its totally new.. I am assuming it is using the CTHE engine and not CAVE.. You should of added Sat NAV in at least.. You will have to let us know how you get on..
  19. Now thats a million dollar question. My vRS wish list : - Trying out a manual vRS TSI - Much lowered suspension - Less plastic and more chrome on the inside. - Crome door handles instead of flopy plastic ones - A bit of leather on the door handles - A slightly less oil guzzling oil burner but thats everybodies wish..
  20. Hehe.. The optional extras look fantastic.. I want one, oh I mean both/three... I'm getting all heated up now...
  21. I did the same out of curosity.. for my Fabia vRS MK2 with 4K on the clock with all the optional extras on it like "rear electrics, arm rest, sat nav, blue tooth, rear parking sensors and climate control" and suprise suprise they came back with just over 7K.. Are they having a laugh!!... I keep on getting an automated e-mail from them saying the value of my car has gone up... oh yeah by about £10 a time... its quiet funny really...
  22. Hay Wazzag - I raised a similar question on the forum.. and received lots of advice... Might be worth looking at my thread.. My question was around monitoring the oil consumption but interestingly it seems that the Skods boys are over filling the vRS.... I mention that on my thread and I think you too mention it. I havent exactly experienced oil loss yet, my car has 4K on the clock and my manufactor warrenty runs out June 2014 and I am considering extended warrenty but its gonna cost around £499+.. The car unfortunately uses oil and I think its a balance and trade off.. I'd be interested to know what comes of your situation. Keep us informed.. good luck... here is my thread anyway... it might help!! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/275077-fabia-vrs-engine-oil-top-up/
  23. If I remember rightly its a "TECH" because of the Amstadan console which includes SAT NAV and Bluetooth.. I am assuming Skoda will also chuck in some free serivicing and warrenty etc... It depends on what you want.. If you want good value for money and need to sensible running costs and with some bling, then this could be for you! You might want to consider saving your cash and see what Skoda offers next year in terms of the new Fabia 2014... By that time the TECH prices might fall a bit further down.. But I'd consider it as a second nippy run around car...
  24. Totally agree on the point of making your own judgement call on advise given....If I can be in a position of being more aware of certain areas/issues, it then provides me with knowledge to argue the toss with mechanics when they fob me off. I am not one myself, I am just a vRS owner with a completely different profession and thats it, so dont have facilities to do most simple jobs like oil and filter changes, but now with some knowledge I understand the benefits and pitfalls of hot and cold oil changes (just as an example). I'd like to think I am not naive...... (probably leave that to my wife)... I love F1 and have tickets booked for SPA this year... I didnt realise their is an F1 thread on here too..
