  1. Yeah im going to buy a clutch/flywheel kit, if your gunna be in there u may as well do both.
  2. Ok thank you guys ill cough up some more cash and stick to the dmf.
  3. Hi folks Seems the dual mass flywheel on my pertrol vrs needs replacing, was considering saving some money/ future issues by binning the dmf and fitting a single mass. Have any of you done this? was wondering what the difference will be etc. Thank you
  4. Hi folks, My vrs is making a squeaking noise for a couple of seconds after startup and after shutdown. Start the engine, 2-3 seconds later the squeek is there for a few seconds then goes, switch off the engine... wait 1 or 2 seconds, squeak is back again for a second or so then stops. The only other time ive noticed it is when i lift off while driving in gear, i can hear it squeaking until i give it some gas, doesn't seem to do it during normal gear changes. I have no loss of power, car goes stops turns as normal. MY first thought was a belt issue, ive removed the auxiliary belt....no fix, next i got under it and removed the engine cover, it seems to me like its coming from the bell housing where it meets the block. Possible flywheel bearing? Only other thing i noticed while the engine covers were off is the crank breather is hissing after engine stop and seems to be sucking during running.... not sure if thats normal tbh. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
  5. Yup not listed. Just some horrible carbon one
  6. Hi folks, My gear knob cover is looking pretty knackered and i want a new one. A mate has a shiney chrome one with vrs engraved in it from super skoda. I like it and want one but they dobt list it on there website anymore... Any body know of any other suppliers? Cheers
  7. Yup http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/octavia/65128/vrs-hatchback Been out about a week this review. enjoy
  8. Got a pic, and a description for the engine... and model its for please
  9. Hi, erm yes and no i bought the R1 to start with because it was offered to me for a ruddy steal, i solf it 2 years later with 6k more miles on it and made alittle bit of cash That aside its the best bike ive ever owned, evern better than the 2012 R1 imho As for ninja story eeerm dunno really i did have an engine let go on me once, con rod let go and smashed a hole through the crank cases, the piston spun around and eneded up wedge inside the barrel liners upside down putting a nice crack in the liner. I dont have any pics of the complete block, a few mates stole some bits here and there and i gave the barrels to bristol city college with the piston still inside... they wanted to use it as an example of the forces involved in combustion for the apprentices i believe. Please excuse the state of the engine in these pics, i took them shortly before the engine went to the scrap yard and it had been sat in the back of my garage on an old tyre for a year and a half... so grubby and abit rusty. When the rod let go it locked the engine for a split second twisting it in the frame... breaking one of the frame mounts in the process but surprisingly kept running. Obviously it was smoking like crazy but i pulled over put it in neutral...again still running, hit the kill switch and it spat its oil out the bottom and never ran again :( So new engine and frame... the bike not far out of warrenty and had 10k ish miles on it, after much wrangling with kawasaki they helped me out alittle with the cost but the full repair bill still cost me about £2500 I think that pic was taken shortly after i got back from cadwell park, and it was running pirreli dragon evo super corsa pros sc2+3 (kinda road race cut slicks Very very nice bike used to love the way when u pinned the throttle the bike would shake its head alittle very stable, had it up to 186mph (indicated) twice in france on seperate trips was sorry to see it go but a dutch guy came into the shop one day after seeing it outside and offered me alot of cash for it (it was just after the recesion and the euro was kicking the pounds arse). Currently strongly considering another... who knows
  10. Erm i cant make it... i didnt ask if the missus wants to do it as i suddenly remembered the 28th is are aniversary lol..... could of got messy.
  11. Hi Peeps Just wanted to put a post up in here. I love my bikes altho currently dont own a road bike as i had to sell them both for more cash to get married Ive had a Honda nsr 125 First bike bloody loved it From there i passed my test and moved on to a 99 zx6r g2 Changed the fairings to a yanagowa bsb set which looked loverly oh and a yoshimura exhaust Here is a pic from MCN in 2005...... oh yeah my gf (now wife) was MCN L plate babe of the year that year (also swicthed to a titanium akrapovic full system slight mishap ended that story :( So i moved on to one of these R1's ( had just started working for yamaha at the time so got it bloody cheap. Kept it until recently when i bought a new one but also bought a xmax 250cc scooter to ride to work. And thats me done On a side note as said i worked for yamaha, im a qualified bike mechanic so feel free to private msg me if u wanna know summin and ill see if i can help Be safe gents
  12. The DMF was pretty ropey on my old 1.8tdci focus for as long as i owned it... certainly didnt fly apart Infact i was told by 2 seperate ford dealers to not worry about it until u can feel pulsing through the clutch pedal when feeding it out... especially on downshifts when your going down the box using engine breaking. Not sure how this would fork on a dsg box....but still no detonation. Noise noticed at 75k miles, car sold at 120k
  13. In my experience it seems to be down to the individual dealer more than the badge? Sales man at sparshatts of botley couldnt be arsed to give me a second look.... sparshatts in farham were much better (maybe just had an off day??) My wife recently had the urge to look at a Kia cee'd, went to the local dealer... which is about 200 yards from our house. Couldnt have been worse.. honestly you would think we were asking to test drive a saleen super car. Salesman was rude to my wife, she was asking questions about oil consumption, service intervals, parts wear (my missus has a good mechanical head on her shoulders for the most part) the sales man seemed to think she was joking and palmed her off with an attitute that smacked of "shh love, men are talking" lol So she said a few choice words and we moved on... seriously a kia dealer, really? long story short next car on her list was a suzuki swift, went to sparshats skoda in botley (yup the same i had problems with) as they also sell suzuki's saleman was spot on... deal done. But then on the flip side went to lyndhurst 2-3 months ago with my 4 year old nethew, he caught the slightest glimpse of the ferrari dealer and was off. Honestly i dunno if sales were slow of if the sales guys had just got a pay rise but they were epic. I didnt bull**** them we walked in and i explained to the first guy i met that as much as i would love one there out of my price range but the little lad had pulled me in. We had a luagh and the saleman was joined by another who led us towards a ferrari 458 and let the nethew basically climb all over it lol (granted he was clean and didnt try to stand on the seats etc). I took a few pics of him behind the wheel and we were done.... on the way out one of the guys poped up with a ferrari baloon and a hat for the nipper. Top man!
