Fixed or variable mileage servicing
eddh replied to Tidza's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I'm due a major service shortly , would you recommend a minor a pick or ask to pay for fuel filter and pollen . Confused and don't want to be ripped off but want my car servicing properly -
thanks for the reply's, was thinking about varying the route going in one way and going home the other just to break it up a bit

Octavia vrs road noise. Help!
eddh replied to billblacoe's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
for what's is worth - no road noise or nothing I've noticed . 4 very budget tyres £40 per corner but I do have a sheet off the non slip rubber mating laid in the boot , but its in the to stop items sliding about not road noise -so this may help -
Variable to fixed servicing - VRS TDI
eddh replied to LordRaiden84's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
looks like we have a similar aged car with roughly the same mileage but mine looks like its had one more service (mines 55 thousand ) . I get mine done every 10 thousand which is my choice which can mean it sometimes gets done every 9 months. with the cam belt I got told in person by 2 different dealers that it is every 5 year for the cam belt , think they said it had been increased from 4 too 5 years. -
thanks guys .

Cheers pal - had the car over 2 years first time I've noticed it doing a regen when I've come to or about to turn the engine off
-
hi , when I pulled up at work today noticed engine was ticking over at 1000 rpm normally its about 6.500 or 7000 didn't turn the engine off but went for a quick nip up the motorway thinking the car was doing a dpf regen . when I got back it was back to normal rev's , could I have just switched the engine off whilst it was revving higher than normal or did I do the right thing ? hope this all makes sense , thanks eddie

ive a 11 plate and used to have a fabia vrs mk1. running cost wise id say its slightly more expensive on fuel and think dealer service's is a little bit more . what I will say is a miss my old fabia probably everyday or at least every week it was a great car if I could turn back time id have kept it.

Cam belt change- are belts date marked?
eddh replied to Tinbum's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
would these codes mean anything too skoda if you went into the dealership ? or is there a way of speaking too the police workshop , would the people u bought it from know . surly they've had at least one belt on though -
ive just put on 4 £50 per corner auto grip think there ***** and they have transformed the car from a bit of bore family hatch into a monster to control
-
yeah your right , just remember reading there was a mod for stone protection
-
mine went june last year got a similar quote from skoda decided not to bother and will run without it again this summer too , I cant justify it when another stone could blow it again . think theres a mod that can be added to protect the compressor.
-
got to admit both these issues concern me egr and dpf, mines a 51 thousand mile car on a 11 plate , and to be homiest there's nothing that takes my eye as a suitable petrol replacement if I was to trade in - everything seems so expensive i.e golf gti or a new or 2nd hand vrs Octavia. , so apart from putting £1500 to one side for this future issue its hard not to worry. at least once I week I regret trading in my old fabia vrs diesel.

Cam Belt and Water pump..Options? Opinions?
eddh replied to ChrisRs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
hi, this seems expensive Doncaster skoda and leeds - £460 with water pump being changed at the same time , they both said they would inspect waterpump when changing the belt and it may come in cheaper if the pump doesn't need changing (£100 cheaper). just seems abit steep £460 but id prefer the piece off mind that the dealer has done the work...... -
original conti's on rear 39,000 4mm left and still fitted ,firestones 2mm on front 19,000

think the pedals are offset to one side or they were on previous model . if its auto might not be too bad
