  1. can anyone help last week coil light started flashing so dropped car off at local dealers the diagnosed a faulty glow plug and a sensor in exhaust £300 , this monday same light came on dropped back off this time they found a turbo actuator problem another £300 on the technicians test run he has found another problem - stripped it down now there saying its a egr valve and there seeking a good will from skoda but my last service was at a local garage due to car being out off warranty - so my question is because the dealer wouldn't say does anyone now how much this latest bill will be - even roughly as it stands donny skoda have had £600 out off me in the last week
  2. Think I'll get a minor and fuel filter , and do the others myself
  3. It's due a 60000 mile service get it done every 10000 , it's had break fluid done a year ago . 2011 plate vrs diesel.
  4. I'm due a major service shortly , would you recommend a minor a pick or ask to pay for fuel filter and pollen . Confused and don't want to be ripped off but want my car servicing properly
  5. thanks for the reply's, was thinking about varying the route going in one way and going home the other just to break it up a bit
  6. hi, start a new job Monday , quick question ref dpf and the drive to work route 1 - 16 mile roughly 35 minutes off - a19 single carriage way and drive across town route 2- 24 mile 33 minutes roughly - off motorway and possibly 4 mile off a fast a road concerned about dpf on both off these routes to be honest not so much the 2nd , its a Monday to Friday job as opposed to shift work ive done since I first bought the car.
  7. for what's is worth - no road noise or nothing I've noticed . 4 very budget tyres £40 per corner but I do have a sheet off the non slip rubber mating laid in the boot , but its in the to stop items sliding about not road noise -so this may help
  8. looks like we have a similar aged car with roughly the same mileage but mine looks like its had one more service (mines 55 thousand ) . I get mine done every 10 thousand which is my choice which can mean it sometimes gets done every 9 months. with the cam belt I got told in person by 2 different dealers that it is every 5 year for the cam belt , think they said it had been increased from 4 too 5 years.
  9. Cheers pal - had the car over 2 years first time I've noticed it doing a regen when I've come to or about to turn the engine off
  10. hi , when I pulled up at work today noticed engine was ticking over at 1000 rpm normally its about 6.500 or 7000 didn't turn the engine off but went for a quick nip up the motorway thinking the car was doing a dpf regen . when I got back it was back to normal rev's , could I have just switched the engine off whilst it was revving higher than normal or did I do the right thing ? hope this all makes sense , thanks eddie
  11. ive a 11 plate and used to have a fabia vrs mk1. running cost wise id say its slightly more expensive on fuel and think dealer service's is a little bit more . what I will say is a miss my old fabia probably everyday or at least every week it was a great car if I could turn back time id have kept it.
  12. would these codes mean anything too skoda if you went into the dealership ? or is there a way of speaking too the police workshop , would the people u bought it from know . surly they've had at least one belt on though
  13. ive just put on 4 £50 per corner auto grip think there ***** and they have transformed the car from a bit of bore family hatch into a monster to control
  14. yeah your right , just remember reading there was a mod for stone protection
  15. mine went june last year got a similar quote from skoda decided not to bother and will run without it again this summer too , I cant justify it when another stone could blow it again . think theres a mod that can be added to protect the compressor.
  16. got to admit both these issues concern me egr and dpf, mines a 51 thousand mile car on a 11 plate , and to be homiest there's nothing that takes my eye as a suitable petrol replacement if I was to trade in - everything seems so expensive i.e golf gti or a new or 2nd hand vrs Octavia. , so apart from putting £1500 to one side for this future issue its hard not to worry. at least once I week I regret trading in my old fabia vrs diesel.
  17. i know it doesn't help but rotated mine and there on 3mm and its on 49000 miles.
  18. I was told when tyring too book mine in at Doncaster skoda its 5 year or 110 thousand miles and to wait until next mot in a year. so feb 2016
  19. hi, this seems expensive Doncaster skoda and leeds - £460 with water pump being changed at the same time , they both said they would inspect waterpump when changing the belt and it may come in cheaper if the pump doesn't need changing (£100 cheaper). just seems abit steep £460 but id prefer the piece off mind that the dealer has done the work......
  20. original conti's on rear 39,000 4mm left and still fitted ,firestones 2mm on front 19,000
  21. think the pedals are offset to one side or they were on previous model . if its auto might not be too bad
  22. was the coil light on when you had the problems , I had a coil light (pre heat light) on and flashing and that was a turbo actuator sticking fixed under warranty
  23. not related to original post but ive just ordered 4 to be fitted early next month £80 per tyre fitted. thorne doncaster
