  1. ah so this is the thread i need to read. ,fancy putting a 1.8t in a fun? ill supply the tea and cakes.
  2. Right I've been a bit busy and forgot about this thread. Having seen that complete mk4golf 1.8t can be had very cheap now if like one of those in there. I have done a bit or research and seen that Teflon tom has done this which answered my question of is it possible, next question is there a link for a build thread I can have a look at to see what's involved.
  3. My faitful 2001 fun 1.6 engine has just given up on me so its time for a new engine of some sort. I want to do this as easy as possible so what engine codes should I be looking for if I go the 1.4 16v route and what parts do I need to salvage from the doner car? Any other suggestions?
  4. Turns out the head gasket is blown, ugh. Dropping it off to my local friendly mechanic this week and will let him sort it.
  5. teflon tom you replied whilst i was mid text but seeing as your both saying that i will look at it in the morning.
  6. temp gauge is going right up to max and all pipes are all hot, plenty of hot air coming from heaters too. previously the temp gauge stayed at around the 1/4 mark.
  7. ill cut a long story short, 1.6 fun engine boiling over, fan not coming on but works if i bridge the fan wires that go in to the n/s side of the radiator halfway down(is this the switch or the thermostat?) if i was to cut and bridge those wires mentioned earlier to keep the fan on at all times and remove the fuse when stationary, would this cause any problems? the correct part will be ordered and fitted asap but need to use it this weekend.
  8. light blue body with darker blue bodykit, did a mock of various colours on photoshop once and thats what looked best. however the yellow works well for me
  9. Ill see if can get a few extra £s for it when i sell it then, no harm in trying. The reason behind the vivaro is that i was looking at T5's but you they are just too small and expensive, Vivaro's/trafics/primastars just seem to tick all the boxes for me, shame about the badge though!
  10. Ive got one of the last 20 51 plate skoda fun's left on the road and ive had people tell me that i should hang on to it cos it will be worth more once its at classic status as its one of the last? I dont think so but im not really in to cars/vans anymore, which you can tell as im looking to get a vivaro next for the extra room.
  11. Jetbubble- ive got a 51 reg fun up for sale soon, 83000miles, Planning on keeping it till it till march and then selling with fresh mot. let me know if you want more info.
  12. Thats a great help thanks. Will pass that on to my spanner man
  13. Drove from Essex to Cardiff on friday and halfway round the M25 the gearbox started making a noise (sort of noise cars make in reverse) It only does this in 5th gear so today I drove most the way home in 4th at 55mph. Any thoughts? engine is the 1.6 as fitted to a 2001 felcia fun and now on 83k.
  14. Im considering selling purely as i want a caddy maxi, its 51plate, 73k (i think) truckman top, straight all round but a couple of bits of rust and rear bumper need a repair. One of the latest models left and i dont really want to sell it as i know ill regret it later on but need something bigger.
  15. Another one here, Registered November 18th 2001, (EX51 ***) 78k on it now and in good condition all round apart from the rear bumper which needs repairing. Stock all round, come with a full glass Truckman top and load liner. half leather front seats and trim, no fancy electric windows or mirrors. I bought it in November 2011 with 55k and 2 previous owners, I got it purely to transport mountain bikes. I may of met one of you before in the Forest of Dean, your Truckman top had come detached and smashed to pieces on the way down the motorway!!!
