Autoexpress video Golf R v Seat Leon Cupra
terakris replied to vrskeith's topic in General Automotive Chat
Yeah, its not clear where to put them in fairness, but he should know better if writing on the interwebs about it. -
I waited 15 years to get my 15 number plate (my name is Kris... easy to guess what it is!)... was just gonna keep it on paper, but gave in very quickly and purchased a new car to stick it on hehe. Purchased it the day it was released just in case someone else wanted the same one as me (slim but didnt want to take the risk)

So there is going to be a Leon ST Cupra 280

I think everyone ticks the seat sound option, as no one I've spoken to has ever heard a system without it lol. Its ok, sounds good to me but nothing to compare it to as ive not been in another leon without it. -

The standard screen/satnav is a bit crap - i think it might be getting a slight improvement for the MY16 but the satnav high is the way to go if thats your thing. For me i dont really use a satnav unless im lost but i know some people will use it all the time so its more important. If I used it more, id prob be unhappy with it. -

At the time of the original sub8 second time they were running the performance pack which wasnt available, but it is now so its all fair game Eagle eyed viewers will notice that the estate is also running the same pack, which makes sense seeing as its going round the ring! I wouldn't be so sure about the rolling acceleration, they can be hard to get off the line when cold due to the fwd/power but once moving they are pretty quick. Off the line yes... once moving, I think you may struggle more than you think I did this exact thing with an RS3 the other day and he couldn't get away. -

I should have done it old skool like you... as I had fuelly setup wrong (idiot!). It's now a bit more respectable. so now 0.3 out from the computer which is totally acceptable. -

They toys hold the engine back a lot, turn the traction off and it pulls much better. Even without the light flickering it really holds the car back if the rubber aint up to the job (which the stock bridgestones aint). I've now turned down the fake noise in mine and it sounds much better, but a bit quiet still. Exhaust farts are great though On startup and just cruising it is very quiet outside, they prob made it a little too quiet. Not had any rattles in mine yet, feel very solid... nothing like my fabia which rattled ALL the time. Golf R will be a hoot though, so enjoy thrashing that around -

Replied to your other post, but we have the 18's on the elegance and they are fine. Then again she(wifey) never takes it out of standard (or comfort mode, whatever it is by default). Over bumps and stuff its fine, no issues what so ever. I did worry they might be a bit harsh but there is still a fair amount of rubber on them so they give plenty of bounce still. -

Quoted from the wife "its quite good" lol. I think its quite soft myself - no issues over bumps or anything. -
few questions for my new car VRS
terakris replied to wesleyuk's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
I found my vrs kicking down when I didnt want it to, so just try and not plant the throttle and its a lot better at leaving the gears alone when in manual. The DRL's - I never got pulled over... flashed by a couple of people (funniest was 3 cars in a row all with DRL and some idiot in a saxo madly flashing all of us not knowing what they were). -

Im really not, even on the first tank when I was taking it super easy I only got around 25mpg - Although I never seem to get anywhere near the figures other people post, so maybe it is just how I drive. -

I know what you mean, it does make a nice noise in comfort mode cos you can hear the exhaust pops hehe. I'm gonna drop mine down to around 20% i think, when i get around to it. -

You can unplug it or turn it off with vcds (but im sure you know that already, more for other readers). -
It can be hard to get the power down if you just floor it off the line, as expected, but once you are moving even a little the diff sorts out any torque steer (ive had none so far and am currently running winters). I get a few spins again cos of the current tyre i have on, but the diff is very good at getting the power down... will be much better with summer rubber on.

Is the mk2 Fabia vRS Replacement available already!
terakris replied to Ootohere's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Leons are nice... Cupra is just frigging nuts. I'm loving it They aint perfect, but its a big step up from the vRS. Deaf worth taking one out for a blast, although the stock rubber is terrible so take that into account when trying to get traction. -
What to replace the Fabia VRS with? Clio RS 220?
terakris replied to lol-lol's topic in General Automotive Chat
Thats what I did and they have been bending over backwards for me ever since, even post sales. I've had issues with a lot of different car dealers and I'm sure I'll run into issues at some point with the SEAT ones, but so far my local one has been great. There is apparently a big internal drive to push up customer service as they are known for being pretty bad... and still now you dont get amazing reviews or feedback when it comes to things like warranty work. Gotta say I'm loving the LEON... power aspect aside, its a good all round car. -

I quite like the eco mode.... on my daily drive to work and back i have lots of long straights on slight hills where i can just take my foot off and roll for ages if im not in the mood to drive fast. maybe im just getting old lol -

I swapped mine for a Leon Cupra 280... only 350 miles in so the engine still a bit tight and running winter tyres, but even then its a world apart from the vRS. Better in every way -

You can with VCDS... gonna do it in mine (well turn it down to about 50% or so). I think the most annoying thing about the fake sound is the exhaust makes an awesome noise on change up which gets hidden with the piped in sound. But its not "that" bad really (tbh, im in eco mode most of the time haha) -
If thats the same diff thats in the Leon Cupra then i'd say it could be worth the £1k extra. Its not gonna be how fast you go in a straight line, but how much speed you can take into and out of the corners.

Those 'sell' thoughts are creeping in
terakris replied to Wakey's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Do you have heated seats? I've been suffering from back issues recently and the heated seats help to just take the edge off a bit. -
I was out in mine at 12:01 on Sunday just to get that new car feeling (dealer dropped the car round to me on Saturday). Saw one other an audi Q7 or something on a 15 plate later in the day.

Trade in - wasn't bad deal tbh. was gonna throw up a private advert for a week or 2 but couldn't be bothered with the hassle, so just gonna hand over the keys. Will be sorry to see it go, but lots of fun ahead
