  1. Hi, My car's (octy 1 vRS) lit up its emissions light, when scanned with VAG com I got: 17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!) as the fault. 1. Can anyone give me advice as to how i do this, I'm a competent if basic diy mechanic but haven't worked with a turbo car before. The car has 92000 miles with a full service and cambelt 3500 miles ago. It was re-mapped about 3000 miles ago so i guess the extra boost has probably highlighted the problem. 2. If it is the dump valve is it worth replacing with a forge item or similar or will the standard one be fine? Thanks in advance, Andy
  2. Hi, Try 08702421218 think it's kg something, otherwise roadsure are great for value. A friend got his first bike (GSX-R 600) and insured it for
  3. Hi, Do it! Not much help on the technical side, just got a vRS (52 plate) as a replacement for an Audi A4. More than happy with it, slightly less sound damping and thuds over bums. Other than that it's great, thinking of a rear anti roll bar as I understand that'll reduce the tendancy to understeer . I've had it re-mapped and it's a whole different car without any loss of economy. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a list of things to look out for. Andy
  4. Hi, Try, http://www.speedways.co.uk/ they do vented or grooved as requested. Think it comes to £124 a pair though instead of £46 for standard. Andy
  5. Hi, Anyone know if this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9722206682&fromMakeTrack=true VW navigation system type MDF version A B will fit in my 2002 skoda octavia vRS? What additional parts and cost will be needed? If not which ones should I look at. Thanks Andy
  6. Hi, Took my Skoda (suprise) to them for a service, all carried out well. Only problems were that they recomended I replace the discs and pads all round and change the cam belt. £290 to replace the belt sounded a bit steep and the discs and pads have around 6000 miles life left according to another specialist i took it to. £190 for rear discs and pads sounds expensive too as I sorced the parts on the web for £68 delivered (bargain i think), if I'm not mistaken its not a dificult or time consuming job ?1-2 hours labour. I think I'll try another dealer.
  7. Hi, Had the temp gauge problem on a similar engined audi, it turned out to be the temp sender unit wich i seem to recall cost something like eighty pounds, although that was an audi garage. Mine was easy to tell as one day just stopped reading. I got it straight to a garage though because you don't know if it is over heating. Don't know about the luching sorry. Andy
  8. Yup, tuner is ChippedUK. I've got a reply to my e-mail and they say they're happy to re-do the car and they've never heard of anything like this before. I have to say I've got reservations. Anyone had good or bad experiences with them? Andy
  9. Just one more note, Oh well you live and learn, Andy
  10. Hi Frank, All the best from another newbie. Andy
  11. Hi again, Well took the car out and did some roll on tests with a friend. Unfortunately another vRS wasn't available so we compared a Saab 2.0T aero, 210bhp and 1450kg, so very slightly faster that the octy in standard form. The Saab pulled away slowly in every gear. In conclusion there's no way my car is putting out 232bhp and is likely as not at 180bhp as Skoda intended. Guess by butt was telling the truth. Oh well, written to the tuner asking for my money back or for them to sort the car. Is there any way my ecu has just dumped the new map? I'm just wondering if there's another explanation for the lack of performance before I accuse the tuner of telling porkies. Thanks for all the help and advice, guess I'll use one of the tuners recommended by people on here for a remap now. Andy
  12. Thanks for all your time, I'm not sure I want to drive for three hours just to get to a dyno again so I think the answer is going to be to line it up with my friends standard vRS and see if it leaves it behind. If so I'll be a happy chap, I'll let you know the answer. Thanks again Andy
  13. Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. Torque is up from 153.8 to 208.1. Both the power and torque curves are hole free and it has cleared up a couple of flat spots that i used to notice when driving. Peak power is now produced lower at 6250rpm down from 6475 and tq at 5575 down from 5925. Andy
