  1. Thanks Rum4mo that's very useful. As we are in lockdown I have a bit of breathing space as wife isn't using it at the moment - cars only done 26k but the school run is up and down a ridiculous hill.
  2. Hi all, Just looking to place front pads on my wife's mk3 1.2 petrol. Just looking for oem pads. I have used Pagid and ATE on my other cars but not sure about this one. Not looking for sporty upgrades just good quality comparable to skoda original. Any advice welcome. Thanks, Daniel
  3. Hi all, I just wanted to say thank you! for all of the posts/help I have read along the way even though I haven't commented. Encouraged my wife to buy a Fabia for her first car about 2 years ago (bigger boot than polo and a bit cheaper). Unfortunately must have bought a duff one even though the mileage was really low (47k). My wife, as a new driver, barely used the car in her first year due to her failing her test, has now done a measly 3k miles so it is now at 50k. So far I have done the following, which from my internet searching seem to be quite common: Sealed rear inner door panels due to excessive condensation Replace both front wishbones, lots of clunking from front end from worn bushes - pre-empting MoT failure Replaced rear hub - failed MoT (by the time I had muddled my way through changing front bushes and wishbones (stupidly placed sump) lost the will to contest so paid garaged :( ) Repaired the electric window due to the mechanism 'exploding' and shredding the cable - luckily replaced using cable kit from ebay (£17 yipee!) - garage wanted to change inner door panel , motor and runners - cheeky! Oh and the horn stopped working due to poor connections in steering wheel. - just needed lots of use to 'clear' the contacts All of the instructions I found on the internet so suspect much must have come from here - so once again Thank you!! I did have quick question if i may be so bold: It has just had the service indicator come up for 50k miles. I assume my 1.2 has a timing chain so I shouldn't need to worry about a belt going. But what is usually included in the 50k service? It looks like it has had full Skoda service history except the last one the garage we bought it from did (I suspect it wasn't great - especially as they had ticked the cam belt change even though it has a chain!) Thanks again, Daniel
  4. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I have just changed both wishbones entirely on my wife's Fabia along with new ball joints and console bushes. What a job! I am not sure I would have persevered if it weren't for this thread! Having done the nearside (3 days ago) I spent near on 2 hours trying to remove the old console bush, luckily I made up a pressing tool so putting back wasn't that bad. I used washing up liquid and WD 40. Refitting the wishbone into the console bush using my foot which was quite easy, i couldn't believe my luck! I had planned to do both sides however the delay in removing the console bush meant I had to put the other side off until today. After removing the wheel and liner the first bolt at the front of the wishbone (offside) was trapped by the sump! Luckily I went back to this thread, I ended up loosening the subframe and jacking up the engine to create just enough room to remove the said bolt. After that delay I decided to remove the aluminium subframe bracket altogether and to be honest removing the console bush is a dream if done in the workshop. I had it removed and replaced in under 20 minutes. Putting the front bolt back in was far easier than removing as hitting it back past the sump is easier than trying to pull it out. I am feeling very pleased with myself having done the job in advance of the MOT as I am sure they would have picked up all of the knocking that has now been cured!!! Thanks again, Daniel
