  1. So I've covered 1200 miles so far and I've got to say what a lovely drive. Plenty of go once you get your foot down, and good road holding in the corners. I was expecting it to be a bit roly poly, but have found once it's settled it really corners well. The engine seems to like revs not like diesels of old. Not that I drive like this constantly but I find its good to know what a car will do should the need arise. A couple of minor negative points, there seems to be a gap in power when you change from 3rd to 4th at around 2500 rpm, it's fine if you change at 3000 or over but there is a definite lag when changing earlier. Cruising on the motorway at 70 to 75 produces a drone from the engine that can be quite annoying but once past 80 vanishes. I put these niggles down to me adjusting to a new car so I'm sure after a few months I won't even notice them. Overall though I'm extremely impressed and summed up by my daughter in one word "smooth!"
  2. Looks like I've uncovered a secret gang of "younger" yeti owners!
  3. Hi all, I've been dipping in and out of this forum for a while now. I previously leased a Fabia Monte Carlo 105 Tdi for 3 years. A great little car, with cracking mpg once the engine had loosened up. However it was time to send it back so I've picked up this snow monster. Got a decent deal through lightcliffe Skoda Warrington. Business lease 3 X 36 payments, 15000 miles a year full maintenance contract for £215 a month (+vat). Having only had it for a week I can only give a limited review, but I've got to say so far I'm impressed. I couldn't order any options as the car was already in the process of being built, but I can't see what else you could possibly need. The engine is going to take a while to loosen up (previous car took 10k miles before I got 60mpg and what felt like full performance) but already this is in a different league. Smooth, powerful, quiet and returning 40mpg so far. The ride is limo like compared to the monte, whilst cruise and heated seats make motorways a breeze. Anyway here's a couple of pics, oh and by the way I'm 39 years young!
  4. I've had peugeots in the past and found they shed anything they dont need! Its the standard black and silver trim. The silver threading has started to become unstitched, if that makes sense. Oh and it looks like ill have to wear slacks instead of cords!
  5. Thought I'd give you all an update on my car and a little mini review. As you may already know, I picked up my monte from lightcliffe skoda in warrington last year. My brother runs the dealership there, so I ended up with a nice deal and spec. White, Amundsen +, fitted mats, boot liner, maxi dot and mdi. In the last year I've covered 16,000 miles on a variety of roads. first impressions when I got the car were good. The car cruised well had nice power through the rev range and I didn't find the ride to bad either. Handling isn't bad, there's a lot of lean but it hangs on once settled. It's all very safe, with high grip levels and not much else. Whilst running in the car i was averaging 50 mpg. Since then the car has loosened up considerably and I now average anywhere from 50 - 69 mpg. The car gets the best mpg when the turbo is working and cruising at 80 - 85 mph (typical motorway speeds!). I've found the best way to drive the car is to treat it like a petrol. No low rev lugging, you need to get that rev needle round the dial.Driving it like this seems to produce the best mpg. The front conti tyres lasted 14,000 miles and were replaced with a set of khumos (£60 each fitted). The only things I'd like to change would be a bit more power as the car soon doesn't have that shove you get from other diesel engine cars.So far so good. Now on to the niggles! The squeaks and rattles in the car are driving me nuts! The passenger door rattles whenever anything resembling bass is played through the stereo, so I now spend my time listening to the chipmunks greatest hits! The dash squeaks until till the car is warmed up and then the squeak disappears! I've developed a knocking sound from the the front offside suspension that is currently being investigated by lightcliffe oh and the drivers seat fabric has started fraying. All minor things, that hopefully will be sorted soon. All in all its a cracking little car that costs buttons to run (apart from car washing, as white is the most unforgiving colour!)
  6. Cheers for the replies! Quick update on the car, shouldnt of ordered white! Wahed it three times now and its never clean! The car is running sweetly now with a few more miles under its belt. Having previously owned hot hatches Im quite surprised with its handling and steering feedback. The steering is a bit light on turn in, but weights up nicely once settled. It rolls a bit when conering but I suppose thats the payoff for the ride comfort. The power delivery takes some getting used to, its as though the car has two stages. Also the gearing seems long. These arent moans in anyway, just observations. Anyway whilst washing it again the other day I found this, looks like a new number plate is on order!
  7. <p>Hello all, long time lurker first time poster. Picked up my new Monte on Monday from Lightcliffe Warrington. My brother runs the new and used car sales there, so sorted me out a nice deal! Anyway to the car:- White with Grey Cloth; Amunsden+, MDI, Maxi Dot, Fitted Mats, Boot Liner and spare wheel. Ive got to say the car is a cracker, nice power delivery and a lot more revvy than what I was expecting after reading posts on here. The power is delivered in a different way than old school diesels, with a lot more petrol type response. Its definately no 'leave it in fifth and forget it'So far Ive been averaging 50mpg, but I dont expect to maintain that whilst Im running it in! Ill upload some photos when the weather improves.
