  4. Hi all, my car has the 01435 brake pressure sensor fault, from what I can see on this forum my ABS unit needs repairing and this can be done with a repair kit Can anyone recommend somewhere in Warwick/Leamington Spa area to do this for me? Thanks Dan
  5. Have now got the fault code ... P2002. No ash level given Dealer advises DPF system needs replacing :(
  6. Thanks for the help DPF light came on again the other day after a long run on the motorway. Was then on country roads so I couldn't follow the procedure in the handbook. Not long after that it went in to limp home/restricted performance again, with the DPF and check engine light showing and the coil plug light flashing I don't have access to a VCDS so booked back in at the dealer tomorrow
  7. Hi all, I have a 2.0 PD TDi VRs that's done about 125k miles I've recently had a series of DPF warning lights which I could not clear by following the handbook instructions, ultimately leading to an engine warning light and going in to limp home/restricted performance mode. Took it to the dealer who found no faults but forced a regen after which the car behaved normally ... briefly Now I get the warning light coming on in the middle of journeys, plus every journey the car idles at ~1000rpm regardless of journey length or engine temperature, as if it is doing a self-regen all the time. Every junction, set of lights, roundabout is the same - always at a fast idle. Also I can often hear the fans running after turning enine off and today there was a definite smell of unburnt diesel. Plus my fuel consumption is awful, its gone down by about 10mpg (!) to low 40s. I've been back to the dealer who still says "nowt wrong" but clearly there is something up One more thing to mention is that the trip computer is not picking this up and is still reporting low 50s mpg average for the tank (I reset trip 2 after every refuel) Anyone got any ideas? My fuel bill is starting to hurt so any help appreciated!! Thanks Dan
  8. Hi, would the washer jet cover caps be available? I'm missing my nearside one! Dan
  9. Hi all, Could do with a bit of help/advice please ... I need to replace the tyres on my '08 Octavia vRS estate and I want to make sure that I get ones with the correct OE speed and load rating. I can't find this info in the handbook, can anyone advise please? Thanks Dan
  10. Hi all, thanks for the help samuir1974 - I'll take a look at Midlands ChrisRs - Bingley's a fair way from me. But not far from my folks in Dewsbury. So if I can't get sorted locally, I'll be in touch BTS22 - pics to follow ... Cheers
  11. Hi all, I love the way my Race Blue vRS comes up when it's washed, but sadly there's a few too many paint scuffs, chips and other blemishes for it to look blue all over! So can anyone recommend me a detailer or paintwork repairer in the Warwick/Leamington area who could tidy up the damaged the bits, and bring the whole car back to something like its former glory?! Thanks Dan
  12. Hi all, My Octy (2.0TDi vRS estate) is feeling decidedly baggy these days. It's covered the best part of 110k on the original suspension (AFAIK anyway) so time for some new stuff Primarily I want to replace the dampers, but doing so gives the opportunity for springs as well to sharpen up the handling a bit. From what I can gather, the Bilstein B12 kit seems popular. My slightly different requirements are: 1) I do a lot of biking, climbing, surfing, camping etc so I am often driving a long distance with a fairly full boot/heavy load. So I want something that will stand up to the load and will not wreck the ride comfort when driving say 200+ miles down the M5 to Devon or going down to the Alps 2) As a result of these hobbies I often have to drive down tracks, park in rough laybys, etc. So I want to preserve ground clearance as much as possible - I've picked up enough scuffs as it is! Therefore I don't really want to lower the car if I can help it, though I realise that improving the handling generally involves a lowering even if it is only slight. One option to meet this criteria would just be to get some stock replacement dampers from the stealers So, anything else to suggest other than the B12s? Thanks Dan
