  1. If the camera is put to record only when movement is detected then an 8 hour card is more than sufficient. Cannot recommend leaving it live and going on holiday Shanco
  2. I've found the 'always live' 12v socket a boon as it means the camera is recording when car is parked up etc. so would capture anything untoward at all times. Shanco
  3. Totally agree with you. I've a Superb 140 with DSG and 'stop/start'. On hills when you come to a halt the 'stop/start' knocks the engine off only to find that when you take your foot off the brake the car rolls back before the engine kicks in. DSG without 'hill hold' is a downright menace, furthermore you have to isolate 'stop/start every time you switch the ignition on. I'd rather be without it. Shanco
  4. I've only found two ways of dealing with rats - either shoot or poison them. If neither of theses options are palatable to you then you could try providing a food source away from your car. Shanco
  5. Hi WaveyDavey, At my age I do it so that I can easily check what I've just typed. In a previous 'life' when working I did it to avoid any confusion or potential misunderstandings of my missives by itemising what I intended. Shanco
  6. Developed pain in my left hip and thigh when driving my Yeti. Like yourself I was well fed up with the pain And inconvenience I was experiencing. Problem was cured by changing vehicle to Superb DSG. Not for one minute suggesting this is the same as your ITBS but have not any pain since changing to the Superb. Just think that car seats can suit one individual and not the next. Best of luck in the search for a solution. Shanco
  7. Mine's now done 4000 miles and the DSG has been as smooth as silk. If I had the problems you describe I'd be hot footing it to the dealer and demonstrate the fault to them. Should they not be capable of fixing it then ask them what they propose to do. - car exchange?
  8. I've a 64 plate 140hp DSG. It's a 6 speed box and extremely smooth. Cannot comment regarding longevity as I've only clocked up 2600 miles. Would it be possible for you to take out extended warranty at time of purchase to ease your concerns? Shanco
  9. 'Coopers of Stortford' are advertising a 'Deluxe ultra powerful Ceramic Car Heater' that they claim is excellent for defrosting windscreens 'in seconds'. Price at present has been reduced from £14.99 to £7.99 plus p&p of £4.99. May not be what you want but thought it was worth mentioning. Shanco
  10. I haven't experienced anything like this and cannot offer any suggestions / advice. However, it does raise the question of how I could get to get it to apply to SWMBO. Shanco
  11. Hi Penpusher, Next time I visit Brecon I'll approach from a route via Abercrave, Cray and Sennybridge to see what happens. Shanco
  12. Had a most unusual experience yesterday. Drove 60 miles to Brecon for lunch at an average speed of 50 - 60 mph. The outside temperature was 30C to 10C dependent upon altitude. The average mpg was lower than normal, water temperature 900C but the oil temperature was only 830C. The return journey, later in the day, was driven in a similar manner but with an appreciable increase in mpg. The return journey had outside temperatures of 1.50C to -1.50C. Once again the water temperature was 900C but the oil temperature varied between 860 and 1060C. It appears the colder the outside temperature the hotter the oil temperature. Any explanation or thoughts greatly appreciated. Shanco
  13. Took delivery of Superb in December. Blackberry on 3 would not connect. Eventually by 'unticking' rSAP box on phone everything worked. Shanco
  14. My last 5 Skodas all had under 10 miles on the clock following PDI. Shanco
  15. Being 6'00" and 19 stone (not into non Imperial measurements) it took me over a 1000 miles of driving and seat adjustment to find the 'sweet spot' for the driving seat. I would have appreciated the ability to extend/adjust the front squab as this would allow for more leg support. Shanco
  16. Apologies - RFD should have read RFL or VED as it's now known as. Seems that the incidence of making typos is exponential to my aging years. Shanco
  17. If it's losing it's bong try mixing in a few Viagra the next time you fill up!! Shanco
  18. Fitted Caddy caps to my winter steels on my recently disposed of Yeti. 4 of indents fitted snugly to the wheel nuts and the 5th. was left 'loosely' holding onto the locking nut - they never came off nor gave any reason for concern. Sourced the Caddy caps from local VW dealer - from memory they were £38 including VAT for a set of 4. Shanco
  19. Hi Wheelnut, When I replied to you my brain must have gone 'walkabouts'. I was thinking of my RFD of £130 which is for the 2.0 140 DSG. Didn't fully appreciate the significant difference between manual to automatic. After 1300 miles Maxidot has increased to over 57mpg on last journey so I'm hoping for 50mpg on a brim to brim basis. I'm sure that you will be well pleased with your fuel consumption for such a large car. Shanco
  20. Whenever I have felt an affinity to a car I have given it a name. Over the years, when discussing cars, I have found that recalling a car by name has made life easier as SWMBO doesn't seem to recognise makes, models etc. although she is masterful in remembering colours. Our Jungle Green Superb now has been named - Jane!!! What names if any have you given your car? Shanco (Tarzan)
  21. Hi Wheelnut, Hope you will be as with your Superb II as your previous car. With a RFL of only £30 I assume you have the 1.6 Greenline - what sort of mpg are you getting. Enjoy the New Year in your new acquisition. Shanco
  22. Hi All The suspension and tyres seem to have bedded in - now covered nearly 1300 miles. Wife and I went to Cheltenham today (a round trip of 220 miles including detours) and I must admit it was a supremely comfortable and enjoyable ride.. To boot we also achieved 57.1 mpg on the Maxidot so that probably means a 'true' 50 mpg plus. Being now well pleased with our Superb we are planning a continental break for the Spring as well as naming her. Shanco
  23. Hi LS108 Only done 800 miles. I now realise that the suspension may need a few thousand miles to bed in. I shall persevere with my psi settings for the moment to see if the suspension settles. Thanks, Shanco
  24. Taken the plunge and ordered mudflaps, front and rear. Even if they only provide limited protection I think they enhance the Superb's looks. Shall have them fitted after the Christmas break. Thanks for your varying viewpoints and advice. Shanco
