  1. Thanks George. Yes concentrating on the dash too much is not advisable.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I have worked out the average read now. The live read seems odd to me. The numbers jump from 200 to 110 to 30 something then back to 200. It just doesn't mean anything?
  3. Great thanks for the replies. So how do I know when it is in 'live' mpg mode and when it is in 'average' mode? Thanks again for the replies. And yes what is the point in the live mode? It is just silly.
  4. Hi, Can anyone clarify what I should expect from the mpg reader on the trip computer. I recently had the car fixed after someone drove into the back of me and since the car has come back the mpg number just rolls constantly from 200 to 110 to 60 and down further and then ---. It also shows --- as soon as i lift my foot from the accelerator. I remember it being erratic before the accident but it now seems impossible to read. Is this normal? Should it be more stable than this? Thanks for the help if anyone can advise.
  5. Andy I just got my new Fabia Scout and this is set to only unlock the drivers door when you unlock it (and then double click if you want to open the rest) I didn't have to ask for it to be programmed like this, it is standard. Also I was told when i collected it that it is also set to lock itself when you are driving (not that i've tested the theory) Also there is a little button in the front to lock all the doors from the inside. (from the way it is set up i think the car has an instinct to lock itself whenever it can!)
  6. I'd love to figure this out. Firstly there is no switch on the fuse panel. Also no daylight light comes on when I turn the engine on? The Manual mentions the switch which is not present but no other explanation as to how i could get daylight lights on. It would seem odd to not have DRL's when Bazzabee's slightly older scout has them?
  7. Hi, Thanks for the replies. I'm a little confused by it all. I understood from your earlier response Bazzabee that there were no drl's in the foglight but the problem/query i have is that there is no daylight light on any other part of the car's headlight set up. Do yours come on automatically on your headlight without having a switch flicked somewhere to enable it? It's not that i'm at all bothered about having them, i am just trying to understand what is and isn't on my new car.
  8. Hi George, I am going to have to experiment with the headlight/foglight switches and see what they do. There is no switch as suggested by JerryT but the skoda website stated clearly the scout had drl's. Only realised after a couple of days that lights weren't coming on automatically during the day. hmm. Don't like the idea of running the fog lights during the day if this is what they are suggesting. Surely drl's use a negligible amount of energy and fog lights wouldn't?
  9. It's all down to personal taste. For me the 'old' badge with its splash of colour was more akin to the bmw and alfa romeo style, it had a stronger identity and a sportiness. Now it looks like most other 'family' brand cars on the road, most notably vauxhall. Heritage smeritage
  10. I have asked question about the daylight running lights before, only now i am in possession of my lovely new scout fabia it has no daylight lights lit up? Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks
  11. Thanks George, I have avoided thrashing it. Will be good to see how she handles the snow. Seboni, yes i've seen the pics of the new monte estate, looks fantastic. Just would have stretched the budget too far.
  12. …and though its early days, so far I am a happy boy. Thought I would post a quick early review for others who come to the forum as I did thinking of buying a fabia… I swapped a beloved 1.9 diesel mazda 6 and I expected a power compromise but I have found the Fabia’s 1.6 tdi quite punchy and fun, lets me overtake confidently etc. I have the scout in corrida/Ferrari red, now known in our house as the Skerrari. I love the fabia’s distinctive look, one of the things that attracted me to it and the Scout gives the estate version some extra road presence in my rural location. I don’t know how accurate the mpg computer is, but if it is to be believed then I am already on an average of 56-60mpg without even thinking about driving style. The fuel does seem to be getting me a LOT further than the mazda managed. My average journeys are 1-2 hours long. I have noticed that the first 5-10 minutes the mpg is a poor 40 or so and I wonder if anyone doing an average of 15 minute journeys or less are not going to get the benefits of this economical engine. I was fortunate enough to get the ‘old’ badges and so have avoided the indignity of being mistaken for a Vauxhall driver (what were skoda thinking?) I hope reliability will allow me to keep this smile on my face for a good while. Any hints and tips for breaking it in and elegant pimping are welcome…
  13. There's one on my new Scout. Good to know its an aerial, i wondered what it was for.
