  1. Just to update. I fitted the 3C8...D Bluetooth module last weekend in place of the 5N0...B that was already fitted in my 2010 Octavia. It took about 20mins in total and was very straight forward. Now works perfectly with iPhone 5S for calls and music streaming with no coding or VCDS changes needed (but not sure if the eBay seller had to code any vehicle specific settings into the unit first as he asked for make model and year of vehicle). Fully integrated with Bolero and maxidot so no compromises there either. Thanks again for the advice.
  2. If you're doing that many miles I'd recommend going for the Octavia over the Fabia just because it gives more space so feels a more relaxed place to be for so much time. I had a Fabia mk1 which had 150k miles when I bought it and 280k when it was time to say goodbye so no problems with the miles. After the Fabia had an A3 which was great, but a bit disappointed I only got to 207k miles. Now got an Octavia I picked up recently and feels like a step up from the Audi. Again, purely for comfort I'd suggest you look at a Laurin & Klement spec model as they are fully loaded. I recently picked up a 2010 2.0 140 model with 71k miles for £8600 so reasonably priced, and a lot of car for the money, but there are not many out there as they are quite pricey brand new. Currently I'm averaging about 53mpg with mixed city and motorway driving (about 50:50). The only bad experience I've had is the alternator wheel going at about 200k miles on both the Fabia and A3. Needed a new alternator. Other than that, fairly reliable motoring with regular servicing.
  3. Hi all, I'm an oldie - newbie having been a member a few years ago when I had a good old Fabia SDI. I then crossed to the dark side and had an Audi A3 for a few years, but I have seen the light and recently picked up a nice 2010 Octavia L&K. Still trying to get to grips with all the features and figure out if everything still works so I'm sure there will be a few questions in the Octavia II area in the future!
  4. Lol! Well just bought one and should arrive within a week so will post again to let you know how I got on. Thanks again for the help.
  5. Thanks Adamal. I've found the one you suggested on eBay. Do you know if they support the Bluetooth streaming from iPhone? Main purpose is only for calls so I'll probably get it anyway but just wondered.
  6. Hi guys. Sorry to renew an old thread, but I've recently bought a 2010 Octavia L&K with Bolero and Bluetooth but doesn't work with iPhone 5s. I've checked the module currently fitted and it's a 5N0 035 730 B so was wondering how Chew182 got on and if you fitted the module you were looking at in the links above and if any recoding was needed. Thanks.
  7. Thanks guys, unfortunately didn't spot these replies in time for the weekend but got it all sorted. In the end I have spoken to roughly 15 scrap yards / car breakers and submitted 3 different online aggregator requests. One of the scrap yards in Carterton, Oxfordshire suggested fitting some Mk4 Golf wheels they had so I took the 150 mile round trip (although I was already at another scrap yard that was already half way there who had told me they had some but then when I got there they only had 4 stud wheels!!). Fitted the Golf wheels without any bother (slightly wider than the Fabia rims, but no clashes). The cost was £20 per rim for two including taking my good tyres off and putting them on the Golf rims. So even though I used up all of Saturday morning and took a 150 mile round trip it saved me £100 on what one of the online places were trying to charge. The Fabia keeps on rolling once more!
  8. Hi, I've managed to hit one of the newly formed caverns in the road and bent one of my wheel rims. I've tried my local scrap yards for a replacement and a couple of scrap yard search engines and only one has any wheels and wants £71 for a used rim and tyre!!!! Does anyone know if there are any other wheels that are equivalent to the 14" steel rim fitted to the Fabia as all the scrap yards I've spoken to say I can only get one off another Fabia (I have 1.9 SDi with 165/70/14 tyre). Thanks.
