  1. 3-4 month ago change radio 2 months ago changed head light bulbs for led. Everything was working fine until few days ago. Last 2k miles no changes at all.
  2. Yes bonnet was open. I'll ask around for newer version. What could prevent that communication between dash, engine, imobilizér, etc. Last I've scanned car around 4 -5 months ago and no communication errors. It was just to check it, no actual problem.
  3. Hi my car has weirdest problem ever I have heard of. Numbers of garages couldn't find cause. So here it goes. First it's not škoda, it's Passat 2013 1.6 blue motion B7, manual but I want someone just give me insight or explain vcds log. It started with car starting on its own, sort off. How to explain, when you push key in ingnition first stirring wheel unlocks, second dash board light up third car starts. What my car did it was starting on its own (while holding clutch down) in second position, didn't have to push key all the way in. When it started it shuts down straight away and automatically tried start again but it was only cranking, with out start. After little while of starting, it wouldn't start, just cranking. At this point I have made video and put it on YouTube. Keep an eye on key positions Here: I have made scan with my original vcds, but could not understand what is going there. Never seen scan like that. Disconnected battery, next day car starts normally, but have yellow engine management light on, and car feels underpower. And after few short journeys same cycle starts again; car starting on second position, etc, as above. If anyone can try to explain that vcds scan why it is as it is would be great and what could cause problem described above or point me to Passat "people" would be great. Log-108620km-67493mi.txt
  4. My mechanic says: does not matter make of oil, make sure it is 5w30 and change it every 10k km/7k miles. More frequent oil changes is better for engine, rather then one more expensive oil keep it there for 2y
  5. I have 2.0 tdi pd mk2 octy and have noticed something I have never heard of before. I have noticed my heating was not hot enough even when on maximum. Just sort of luke worm. I do have little baby and I have switched off passenger airbag. I was loosing my mind why I don't have hot air, checked water levels, thermostat and was going to mechanic to chcek exchanger. On the way to work today I thought let's switch airbag back on, as I don't want to explain why it is off. And who-a-la, my heat came back to normal, toasty hot. Anyone else noticed it or knows something about it? Could anyone try it and post it his/her findings?
  6. I bought my vcds Ross-tech few years ago for around 200. When I was buying it I thought that this genuine cable will work on all cars with all new updates. Vag cars I mean. Now I just found out that this cable will not work on new cars on some modules. Politely said, what? If I want to access all of the modules on new cars I will have to buy new cable, and even then I can only work on 3 cars? And pay even more if up to 10? Can someone pls explain how this make sense? I was about to buy another one for a friend, but now just found out this about Ross's-tech, not sure anymore if I want to.

Hi guys, I scanned my other car Audi a3 2.0 tdi and it shows following codes. after clearing codes, engine code fault goes away but after switch engine off and on again fault appears again.sometimes i do hear fan spinning at high speed even engine is not warm enough Any thoughts?   8. Hi guys, My octy didnt wanted to start today, weak battery, which i knew and it was due to new one anyway. And because my miss needed car for work today, quick journey to harfolrds was necessary as everything else is closed on new year day. after quick talk with them they give me choice of 3. I bought this specs: 12V 68Ah 700A Yuasa black lifetime, way over expensive but didnt have much of choice as i wanted upgraded one anyway My old one was: 12V 61Ah 330A Varta which i suspect was there since new. New battery it is a bit longer but still fitted in nicely.I couldnt fit in this black soft covering around battery as it was short but that is not big issue for me. Car is starting really nicely like never before. I want to ask if new battery is not `too strong` for a car.I would be really upset if car bursted into flames or anything else went wrong as result of this extra power from battery. Car is 2.0 TDI PD 140bhp dsg 59 plate What do you thing guys?

  11. Same problem over here. 4 years 2.0 tdi PD engine with less then 35 000 miles on clock. Engine cranking cranking and when it starts, huge black smoke from back side, when doesn't recovery called. So far 3 times. They have started with adding fuel into intake and once even by jump starting even battery is fine. Checked it and it is on 83%. Problem occur only when cold engine. As it is under extended warranty went to skoda for 2 days with investigation charge but no problem found. Took it to local vag specialist and after 10 min came back with fuel filter full of oil and tiny small shiny metal particle. Suggested that particles are from fuel pump when it's on way out. If it is one in tank it will cause to fail high pressure one in engine too. I called CCP and they agreed on to change high pressure one in engine. Now have to wait a month, to check filter again if oil or metal appear again. If it does fuel pump in tank needs to go too. Other options are to change engine temperature sensor and injectors or glow sparks or both. If any one with similar problems give a shout how you solved this 2.0 starting problems or any other suggestions are welcome too Edit: no fault codes at any point
  12. What did i do to my Skoda today? had a independent garage to change fuel pump, write letter and send it to CCP to claim money back and gave to my Octy wash and fresh spring two coats of Meguiars ultimate paste wax PS: Sorry pics were taken with iphone

  17. Hi guys, I am fairly new to vcds so still in learning proces. cousin gave me his vcds as he changed cars to french makers so i am playing with this new toy. It is full HEX-USB+CAN but it is one of those fixed. this one is to vcds software 11. 11.3. I want to ask what can i find about car if it runnig(driving) while is still connected to pc. thanks ps:if you know about any great web sites explaing-teaching about vcds, sent me a link either here on pm

  20. Thanks George, Those are the questions I don't know and must find out some how, It is dsg gearbox so was that affect somehow? Or was it changed completely? And oil in it, it must have been changed but when? nothing in log book. What about dmf, was it changed along with engine? And that sort of question are coming to my head. Complain about new fitted engine at not my cost, I sort of like that, but again as you said, is it new, refurbished? Got to find out when will be back as till Sunday I am away
  21. In generally I am pleased with car. I just know that there are different rules when u buy car privately or from dealers. It's just that when I asked about history of car he said everything is in log book, which is not much, just regular services. It actually surprise me that he didn't tell me. So I did to know if he was supposed to or not?
