  1. I am not overly impressed with the fuel consumption for the Fabia. Most of my mileage is medium distance journeys of 15 to 45 miles mixed roads driven briskly. The best is 54.6 mpg and the poorest 35.3mpg and the average over the last 2000 miles is 48.63mpg. This compares with our Volvo v70 D3 Auto over 2500 miles, including 450 miles of towing our caravan, at an average of 39.84 mpg with a one time best of 48.66 mpg. Having said that we both love driving the Fabia and fuel consumption is certainly not the most important consideration.
  2. Over many years I have followed the advice of knowledgeable engineers on all my vehicles many of which have covered mega mileages. Never had any engine problems. The advice was what Skoda recommend, posted by Pauldazzle. Have always, wherever possible, used premium oils and fuels. Ryn.
  3. The problem with some Accident Management company's is that they "pass on" your details and the accident details to No-win No-fee insurers. These then plague you to use them to take further action for such as whiplash injuries. The Accident Management company that our insurers dealt with could not even organise a hire car correctly. We had exactly this problem which continued for three years up to the claim expiry date.
  4. Hello Matt, Have been following this thread with interest. As Simon J says the order form should specify the full specification which should show the convenience pack under OPTIONS as item "Package CONVENIENCE (WU5) £258.33 and VAT at 20% total £310. This will be the order on which the contract will be signed by Supplier and Buyer. If this is as per your order, that is the contract between you and the Supplying Dealer. If the manufacturers convenience pack, item WU5, has not been fitted then the dealer is in breach of contract unless they have specifically amended the order, to specify an after market convenience pack, BEFORE you signed the order. It seems Skoda have no choice other than to take the dealer to task and help resolve the issue to your satisfaction which may be the replacement of the vehicle with one that is to the contracted specification. If the order was signed without the convenience pack specified then the contract has not been breached and the dealer has no case to answer. Hope this assists in resolving the issue for you. Hello Stormchaser, From experience using Chips Away (in Dundee) for several years, this is the type of damage that they are normally very good at dealing with and I would be confident to use them. One note of caution, you are probably aware that they are a franchised business and live on the quality of their work so those that have been around for a while are usually to be relied on BUT I would look for recommendations before getting the work done. There are probably several Chips Away Franchises in the Bournemouth area. Regards, Mike.

    Paint Code?

    It seems that Brilliant Silber is also called Reflex Silver and this may be market dependant. The code A7W is used by several manufacturers of the Paint Chip Kits. Your Skoda dealer should be able to confirm the colour code of the vehicle and the chip repair paint code. Mike.

    The colour codes were in the previous Citigo sales brochure page 24 (Edition UK 08/12) but are not shown in the latest brochure (Edition UK 01/14). In case you do not have this brochure and for anyone else requiring the colour codes they are:- Candy White B4B4 Tornado Red G2G2 Black Pearl 2T2T Spring green 0W0W Brilliant Silver 8E8E Night Blue Z2Z2 Silver Leaf 7B7B Sunflower Yellow T1T1 Your question about the two different silvers, Brilliant Silver is the bright silver and Silver Leaf is the more Gold colour.   9. Citigo was built in week 12 (w/c 17/03/14) confirmed by dealer. Arrived in UK by 02/04/14 and at dealers on 04/04/14. Being PDI'd and ready for me to pick up on 08/04/14. Very pleased with the schedule, from order on 02/03/14 to delivery on 08/04/14, total 6 weeks for a factory build. No complaints with that. Mike.
  10. If the damage is from a car door, I agree. Unfortunately over the years most of the damage to my doors has come from shopping baskets and supermarket trolleys and the side protection strips have not stopped the damage. I now try to park on the edge of the carpark where people do not push trolleys between rows of cars. For the price the side strips look OK. Mike.
  11. Hello Stu, Build week information came from dealer after the order was accepted. Not sure if it is possible to get access to the Skoda System Order Information, probably not. The dealer can track the order and should be able to keep you informed of any delay or advancement of the order. Once the vehicle is in build there could be delays in transport to UK and delivery to the dealer depending on shipping schedules. The dealer will be able to track the delivery and give a time for PDI and the date the vehicle will be ready for collection. Regards, Mike
  12. Many moons ago you had to buy even a heater and radio as extras. The influx of better equipped Japanese cars ended this, remember the Datsun Cherry? it even had paint Mike.
  13. Had a similar deal swapping the year old Citigo Elegance ASG 75 for a new Elegance Greentech 75 Manual with Style 2 and Convenience packages. Would not have done the deal with normal finance but with the zero percent PCP over three years it is a goer and releases capital from the original car. Have been given a build week of week 12 and delivery in early April. Always preferred the manual but bought ASG due to wife being disabled but she cannot now drive the ASG so took this opportunity to get the Manual Greentech. Looked at other makes but in my opinion the Citigo is still the best. Mike.
  14. Recently had a problem with an order from HIDS Direct not arriving. Contacted them by E-mail and received a reply next working day, I cannot fault that. Because order had not arrived they re-sent the order which arrived the next day by courier. Phoned them to say thanks and inform them that if the missing bulbs arrived I would return them. Have placed several orders with HIDS and have found dealings with them to be excellent. Mike.
  15. Ordered a new Elegance on 16th February 2014 and dealer informed us that the car will be built in week 12/2014 and should be delivered to us by week commencing 14th April 2014. It seems that build is model dependant and depends on the level of options required. Mike.
