  1. 225/45-17 tyres

I have 4 Michelin Primacy HP tyres in good nick ( I'd say 10-20% worn). They are 225/45-17 91W. No pics yet but can take some if needed. Looking for £150 collected from Basingstoke. Can deliver within reason and or at cost. Let me know if I've missed anything fundamental. cheers
  2. Here I have a set of fabia/octavia vrs 17" wheels. They have been in my shed for some years and need to go. Overall condition is fair, they need a refurb really, some of the paint is flaking and few bits need attention but all fixable. Don't have center caps or come with tyres. I'm open to sensible offers. And I have a new aluminium front strut brace to fit fabia mk1, I think its made by forge. Very good condition, there are a few storage marks and a bit of light scratches on the top bar, could be sanded and buffed up, not that noticeable tbh. £60
  3. 17 inch Audi A4 Alloys on Superb I

Hi guys, I am after some advice from someone with some experience in wheels and tyres. I have a 2004 Superb I, 1.9TDI 130. I love the car but the alloy wheels are corroded and the rims leak out meaning I am having top them up every couple of weeks. It is inconvenient and presumably dangerous. I considered having them refurbished and then the opportunity to get some newer ones at a good price came along. I got them yesterday and now that I have seen them properly I’m not sure I should use them. My current wheels are 16 inch five spoke standard-looking wheels for that year. Not sure exactly what they are. See my pictures, attached. The new ones are Audi 17 inch wheels from an A4 B8 (2008). The part number on the back is 8K0 601 025 B. My old tyres are 205/55R16. New ones are 225/50R17 (Winter). So the width is greater, and the overall diameter of the wheel and tyre is greater. The centre bore is 66.5mm but my old ones are 57.1 so I have ordered some spigot rings. I took a picture of them side by side. There is a difference but it’s not too much. I cleaned them and inspected them last night. The tyres are better than my old tyres and have more tread. The wheels are in better condition too, no corrosion and just a little kerb damage on two. I fitted one to the front passenger side to look at how it fits. I took a picture of it with the old one on the back to compare. It looks good, but more importantly it will probably hold the pressure better. I intend to put all four on this weekend when the spigot rings arrive. Then I will check them for clearance, lock to lock etc, and give it a test drive. Reading a few forums put a few doubts in my mind though. The wheels and tyres will be heavier than the old ones. Will this put my engine under excessive load? The car is is going to turn 140k miles this week and I don’t want this to kill it off. Also I read that you should declare it to your insurance. Will this increase my premium? Does everyone declare it? I certainly didn’t declare my old wheels when I bought the car. Issues with the speedo I can understand but I understand it will work to my safety. It is an old car, I only need to run it another 12 months and I just want to improve my tyre pressures. Do you think I’m doing the right thing? Thanks, Mike
  4. Set of 4 team dynamics pro race 3's Good clearance alloys. Mint condition in silver. Minor marks on 1 alloy due to storage/transport. Comes with x2 215 40 17 rainsport tyres. Low tread ,would be advisable to replace shortly. Other 2 alloys no tyres. Looking for £400 firm collected Birmingham
  5. I recently bought a 2011 Skoda Superb II estate in Elegance trim and am looking to find a Superb owner with 17" Trifid wheels to swap them for my car's 18" Themisto alloys. I've got 3 x Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (ZP, not runflat) tyres plus one budget brand, and I'm based in the North West.
  6. I've had my Superb II Kombi Elegance for two months and am struggling to live with the hard, crashy ride and the road/tyre noise from the 18" Themisto alloys with 40-profile Michelin tyres. I know downgrading the wheels has been discussed on various other threads but opinions seems to differ over whether replacing the 18" Themisto wheels with 17" Trifid wheels or similar from the SE will improve the: overly firm ride tyre/road noise fuel economy Anyone got a definitive answer? I can't really afford to buy new or even used 17" wheels plus new tyres just to improve all/some of the above bullet points, but the sound system sounds so tinny that I can't even drown the noises out with music, and I'm beginning to have second thoughts despite it being a marvellous car in many ways.
  7. As title, no rubber. 2 are mint, 1 has slight scuff, 1 needs attention due to a chunk missing £150?
  8. I am after 4 mk1 Octavia Vrs 17" spider alloy wheels for my mk1 Fabia VRS, preferably with tyres but without tyres is ok!
  10. Just saying hi

hi guys, just joined up today as i get my fabia estate monte carlo on monday going with the black pearl, 17" black twist wheels and sports suspension, 1.2 110 TSI. will be interesting to see how it drives as i only demoed the standard 1.2 110 and the ride is supposed to be much firmer on the 17s feel like a kid waiting for xmas. never bought a brand new car before! and like a kid playing a racing game, i fancy pimping it a little. nothing too much, im buying under their payment plan thing. as the car will be all black outside and red inside im thinking of either debadging, replacing with black/carbon fibre or maybe doing them red (since the monte carlo has a red interior) maybe even a pinstripe somehow, ive seen some grill pinstriping that looks cool. also maybe look at getting it tuned but not sure how that will affect warranty etc never tuned a car before so this is all new to me! btw, anyone got any pics of this model? i cant find a monte carlo estate in black, especially with 17" rims and sports suspension. can anyone recommend a website or something where i can have a play modding my car? a bit like in the old gran turismo games? or is it just old photoshop cheers guys
  11. Octavia II Estate 2.0 TDI DSG I have searched through the forum and have ended up very confused. I have just put winter tyres on my oem rims; 17x7J ET54 CB57.1 5x112, and I am trying to find matching rims for my summer tyres. The best that I have found are from an Audi A3 which are 17x7.5J ET56 CB57.1 5x112. I have looked at various best fit applications and they seem to confirm that there should not be a problem - wheels stick out about 4.5mm further and go further inboard by about 6.5mm. Had a look and there seems to be sufficient space to accommodate this. Can anyone confirm that this is kosher? Tyres are 225/45/R17 Thanks

  16. What I have For swaps I have my 17" OZ Superturismos which I have had for just over a year and half. Reason for sell/swap is that I'm selling my Fabia later this year so would rather have everything back to as I bought it. These wheels do have kerb marks BUT I am aiming to get them refurbed professionally back to new before selling/swapping them. What I want. I'm after a set of either Black/Anthracite/Silver 17" alloys (Original Fabia II VRS wheels) + cash my way. The condition of the Gigaro's need to be in as good condition as possible, I don't mind the odd scuff on the edge but not on the face of the alloy. As for tyres, I can take the rubber off these and swap them for the ones on the Gigaros - so you end up with your original tyres as I don't think there is that much tread left on these. Photos Any questions I'd be happy to help.
  17. 4 x Teron 17" Alloys inc. TyresThey did about 500 miles before I swapped them out. Anybody interested? I'll find out what tyres they have and post some pictures when I get a chance. Colour: Silver Wheel dimensions: 7.0J × 17", ET 49 Tyres: 225/45 R17
  18. Fabia II vRS Alloys going on SE

Hello! Picked up a brand new set of Fabia mk2 vRS alloys (14 plate) from North Yorkshire on Thursday for my Special Edition Pictures will follow shortly once I make the account on that picture thing! Just painfully waiting for the weekend to pass so my set of four brand new Hankook Ventus v12 evo 2's get here! Was close to getting Audi Comps but wanted to be one of the few so far who have the Gigaro's. Does anyone else have the diamond cut ones on a Fabia vRS mk1?? I don't want to cause upset so my intention is not to 'advertise' but I want to gauge interest in the Mk1 Fabia vRS alloy, are they being bought, is it worth me selling mine? They have been finished in gloss black if that makes them more appealing.. just want to know from you lot if they would sell or if I'd be best keeping them as a winter wheel! (This sentence will be edited out if seen to be incorrect use of the forum and its rules so moderators get in touch if you want it removing) Spacers, what do we think people?? Thank you for viewing I know its boring at the minute but in a couple of days I'll be uploading lots of pictures hopefully!
  19. For sale I have a set of 4 17" Octavia Spiders with tires. Minimal curb marks and in overall good condition. 2 x Falken 195/40/17 5mm tread and 2 x Vredestein 215/40/17 4mm tread. Sold car before needing to replace rear tires too. Asking for £300 collected from WD5 Herts, but open to reasonable offers. Pics below, thanks for looking, Ben.

  22. Cam's Citigo Elegance Project

With the delivery of my Citigo approaching, I have already started buying bits for it as it is my first car and I'd like it to be a bit more unique. On order I have a 75hp 5dr Red Skoda Citigo Elegance with every option back except for the summer pack. I am also getting black alloys and a black stripe as well as the variable load floor. I have already ordered MTEC bulbs for the front end, apart from indicators which are Philips silver vision. I will start posting pics when it arrives of the changes I will be making, but I'm very excited! Cheers Cam
  23. Hi all, New here. I've not yet ordered my new company car - I have to choose it by the end of the month, even though I'm not due to get it till April '14. i guess that i'll be at the mercy of the lead time in any case so perhaps >April 14?? I'm considering an Octavia Estate 1.6 diesel, either Elegance (manual, stock model) or SE (DSG + arm rest + steering controls + alloys upgrade). Currently leaning towards the SE DSG, but if I went for the SE, I might want the 17" alloys option as my personal view is that perhaps the 16s look a little small on the estate? 1) does anyone have an SE estate with the Denoms? can you post a picture to help me decide? 2) anyone know why they aren't an option on the configurator any more? they were a couple of days ago?? hopefully they still offer the option and its an error on the website. I have trawled youtube and google images to try to help me decide on wheels - there arent that many examples with Denoms available. I've been to a couple of dealers in glasgow, but they didn't have the cars in stock. I'm gonna have the car for 4 years so would like to make as informed a choice as I can, but finding that I'm having to guess!
  24. I've just got a mk1 vRS estate which has crappy Event SL900 tyres, one even appears to have a slow puncture so I am looking to change all round for something decent. I've done a bit of a search for this on these forums regarding tyres and have found a bit of info but would apprecaite some more info. The stock size for the mk1 Octavia with 17" rims is 205/50R17. The rim size (I think) is 7.5x17 ET35 which would also fit 215/45R17 (-1.5% circumference) or 225/45R17 ( -0.5% circumference). It looks like these tyre sizes are actually cheaper for the premium tyres by Conti and Dunlop! It looks like some people on the forum are running these sizes, do you experience any benefits or issues using these alternative tyre sizes? I'd appreciate any recommendations for tyre model. It looks like I can get 205/50R17 Hankook Evo V12 for about £90 a corner or 225/45R17 Conti Sport contact 5 for £100 a corner.
