Wonder if anyone else is having problems with diesel engined cars ? .

I was stuck on the M4 last week with crashed cars ahead of me. Was stuck for over an hour. When the radio advised that the hold up would continue for next hour. I stopped the engine.. When I tried to restart problems presented .. Battery almost died before pickup. Clouds of smoke and popping in exhaust.. Finally cleared and moved off home, but was not a smooth drive..

My pal next door showed me an item in the paper.. Appears that the Government has introduced policy where at least 2.5 percent minimum of bio-fuel must be added to petrol and derv fuel..

This stuff is made from crops and vegetables and cereal base they produce blobby lumps in the fuel and can clog filters destroy pipes and seals and also increase wear..Garages are now being warned they must flush out their tanks regularly..

Can you see this happening,, its going to cost them time and money..

I was lucky only had a small amount of derv in the tank. Got it all out and flushed with my spare stock of derv..

But am worried its going to happen agen...

Never a fan of BP or Shell but feel if I have problems with fuel I would sooner deal with them rather than one of the smaller suppliers..

If you think it's an issue run the tank very low and then fill up with a good quality derv from a station that sells a lot of fuel.

Then change the fuel filter and see if things improve at all.
