Had a full geometry done today...

Featured Replies

Well after changing my track rod ends and wishbones, I thought I'd hunt down a garage to do a full geometry.

I had a tracking done (£23) at a local independant tyre place, but the car still pulled left, steering wheel wasn't straight, and the car just didn't feel right.

Some googling didn't really come up trumps, but a ring around the local bodyshops pointed me in the direction of "FrontLine Autos Ltd" in Chatteris, Cambs.

Now this is only 2 miles from me, but had no idea they existed!! They have only been open since January, but they assured me the car would be spot on after the setup.

They had this awesome bit of kit, and everything is adjusted live on the screen. The guy talked me through everything he was doing, and told me what he was doing at every stage!! For those who prefer, there is a comfy waiting area too.

The initial figures showed the rear was out, so that was adjusted at the trailing arm. This then changed the front figures, and these were then adjusted to suit.

The whole thing took about 1hr 15mins, so for £40 +VAT (£47) I was over the moon.

The car is now driving straight and true, feels so much more tight, and pointy, and generally like a lovely car to drive. Amazing what £90 of suspension bits and a proper alignment can do.

I can whole heartedly recommend these guys at Frontline, (01354 693211).

Any comments regarding the print out will be read with enthusiasm!!!

Errrrr - its invisible ;)

You mean WAS invisible! :P

:rofl::rofl:

That's a good comprehensive report.

A lot of these places are very vague about what they have done and you can't easily tell the good from the bad

Took 4 garages to track mine.

Bit of a **** take if im to be honest.

And the first 3 blamed the car and said it needed a mechanic to have a look at it!

Plonkers

I'm not going to pretend I understand al that, but I notice the indicator bars on the red-green-red slider don't seem to line up with the actual values above.

I guess they either show it in the middle for OK, or out in the red to one side or the other if its not in range. A bit misleading?

Isnt that the camber??

Mines after being lowered on Eibachs was at orange camber wise!!

LOL

Looks like you found a sensible place... They are using the Hunter aligner made by Pro align;) its a very good system but exspensive compared to the new Snap-on John Beam equipment (to buy that is)

I used to do these day in day out and you have a nice set of figures there:rolleyes:

Phil

The local place I use think use the Hunter Pro align kit. Funky stuff with the beeps

I think this was a John Beam.

I was pleased with the figures, and a good price too I thought.

Didn't realise how much a proper alignment would effect the handling of the car! :)
