Continued Hot Start Issues

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I posted a thread a while ago about the hot start problems my Octavia PD TDi is having. Two weeks ago the engine warning light came on with a fault showing a faulty fuel temp sensor which was duly replaced at a cost for £12.

The garage who did the work thought that replacing that may help the starting, it hasn't. The car was in my local Skoda dealer for a service, they think it may be the starter motor but aren't sure. Whenever the hot start problem shows, the starter motor can be heard turning no problems, surely if the motor was the problem, it wouldn't be turning? Also, the problem is getting more frequent.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

David

I had the exact same problem as you are having.

The local dealer would'nt identify that it was a problem at first, just said give it a bit of gas as you start it as its just a quirk of the car...b0ll0cks

Finally, as it was in under warranty on another issue, I was stood at the side of the car, as one of the technicians tried to start it and could'nt.

Finally, they agreed to do something about it.

They put a new starter motor on, and its been fine since

btw my old starter motor sounded fine to me when turning, but it still turned out to be the problem

Maybe its the same with yours

Agree also think its a starter motor problem.

Yep, my 2ltr TDI was the same. New starter motor done the trick!
