Faq??

Featured Replies

i've just been reading through some of the numerous archives in the felicia forum, it seems that there is a hard core of questions that get asked time and time again??

should we create an FAQ section?:)

yes!

There's the Brisky wiki not seeing much use....

a brisky whaty??

See the link above :D If unfamiliar with the concept of a wiki, here's a rather long winded explanation from one of the best known wikis Wiki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :) Basically it's a web site anyone can edit and contribute to.

It would be good if the Briskoda wiki could be put into better use. Probably easier to find things there than thorugh searching the forum.

I haven't done much, partly because I've never contributed to any wiki (I understand that it's pretty easy, though), partly because my entries may have to be checked when it comes to grammar, technical terms and so on. But maybe some of us Felly fans could do a joint effort?

Could we start with a list on what ought to be there - the standard issues? Then divide the items among us and write up diy guides and have them commented upon before put on the wiki?

Here's a few starters:

ignition lock/barrell

leaking windscreen/sunroof

thermostat, housing, temp sensor

stalling

recommended intervals for changing oil/filter/fluids/belts/plugs

diy wheel bearings, steering joints

diy valve clearance (1.3 engine)

copy/paste the list and add your favourites!

:rubchin:

the theory looks sound, but based on the fact that there is no info there, means nobody uses it:O

Maybe it needs a sticky thread to point to it, and a few good people to get it going :D

Doesnt really need a sticky, there is a link at the top of every page. It also quiet visible from the forums homepage.

WIKI - "What I Know Is"

Swedish, if you write something, I can look to see if there is a grammatical or spelling error. I'm an ok proff-wrotter! ;) but better with that or adding details than writing base articles for something like a car mechanics WIKI.

Thanks for the offer, Ken

I cannot really see myself as writing for Haynes :D but I think I can edit/rewrite some of the excellent tips that's already here but maybe not so easy to find for the newcomer. And technical vocabulary can be tricky - it took me a while to grasp that a "wishbone joint" in the UK is what we in Sweden call a "spider joint" (at least I believe it's the same thing).

But as said, I think a good start is to make a list of entries and divide the labour among us (if there are any other volunteers).

It's the first i've heard of it , perhaps many of us don't look at all the links.

If the wiki was used as an FAQ, a sticky post with a suitable title like "Frequently asked questions - look here first" and a link pointing to the wiki, would hopefully be enough to point people with a common question towards their answer.

I admit there are plentiful links but it is probably one of the bits of the site that are overlooked by a number of visitors.

If you said a "spider joint" to me, I'd be thinking of a "Hookes joint" (universal joint), not a wishbone!
