I'm planning to order Superb 2.0 TDI in S trim and the only extra I'd like to have is the chrome window surrounds. But unfortunately, that is not an available as on option in the brochure. Is there any way I can get it fitted afterwards? Or is it worth pestering Skoda UK about having it as a (factory fitted) option?

I've some good news for you .............

The factory are fitting chrome window surrounds at no extra cost from production week 43 (commencing 20 October 2008) until week 22 next year (25 May 2009) on all 'S' models.

What!?!?!?!? I ordered the basic level of Superb just because it DO NOT have those chrome surroundings... Now I'm really p***ed! Or can I choose between chrome or no chrome???

John W is correct and I don't know about Finland they may have different specs to the UK market.

Phone your dealer and ask them what the build week is for your car, that's the only way to find out.

And I contacted the importer and they said that also here in Finland all Superbs are fitted with chrome surroundings. So unfortunately I have to live with it. At least good point is that those Comforts and S-trims are started to produce... So still about 3 months of waiting...

May I ask what's motivating you to downsize to 16"?

I'm not an expert , but I would assume pretty much everybody who has ordered S trim since the launch day would get the chrome windows surround. I guess if any order takes atleast 4-5 weeks to reach the assembly line, pretty much everyone who ordered S trim on or after launch date in September is covered.

better ride. more rubber on the sidewalls of the tyres (205/55/16) vs low profile on the 17" (235/45/17). crappy roads in the UK therefore more rubber gives better ride in town

Park assist - mainly because I wanted parking sensors in this big a car and park assist with Maxidot was just few quids on top of that. Maxidot is quite useful as I realize now.

And Cruise control.

I've done without Park Assist, but have ordered Cruise, Bolero CD/radio, MaxiDot, Headlamp washers, Rear side door sunblinds and Three spoke leather steering wheel.

If the car was a private purchase it would have made sense to have opted for an "SE", however, mine will be a company car and I did not have the option to choose an "SE". Instead, I used the rest of my monthly allowance to add optional extras.

I am very happy with the default S spec - considering that I had nearly finalized Octavia but then changed my mind after test driving Superb II. It beats Octavia hands down in comfort and space - two items on top of my checklist - for the price. I keep my music on iPod/iPhone and prefer TomTom to inbuilt satnav - hence no real incentive for to move up from S.
