1.4 tdi intercoolers / turbo's

Featured Replies

My mate has just purchased a 1.4 tdi polo colour concept, i know its not a fabia but im guessing there basically the same

Anyone have any experience of modifying them?? intercoolers turbo's clutch kits etc

cheers, or anyone know the right place to look

My better half had one of those. Cracking car. It's not blue with black leather, is it?

Mechanically, it's the 1.4PD 75BHP, so very similar to a Fabia.

Change the engine ?

1.4 is a fairly small engine to start with all that stuff :o

Its a first car think he just wants to tinker with it ;)

But another option is a 1.9 tdi if it fits

Stick with the 1.4 for low tax and insurance, putting a 1.9 in would sky high the price and make it much more nose heavy.

I'd not do anything other than give it a new set of filters and an oil change myself.

You could do a remap, but that will bump the insurance up too.

I think a well working 75bhp polo is a nice starter car :)

Dump a GTi engine in it?

Or wait and I'll tell you how my turbo conversion goes over my easter hols next year

Yep. They go very well considering. Those recaros are wonderful too. Those cars were knocking on 15k new, and the colour concept is a nice looking car.

If it's still insureable, just but a mild remap on and service it.

My advice would be to show him how to change brake pads, and do a basic service on his first ( and surely his pride and joy ) car.

Then the rudiments on basic maintenance, and how better wipers and bulbs improve safety.

And then, how to clean it properly.

He will then have the foundations on how to look after his most expensive purchase to date, and how to save money towards buying a loaf of bread in 2012.

( about 400 quid I reckon )

Yours isn't a 1.4 TDI though is it.

The TDI doesn't push so far you know.

did the AUDI A2 have a 90ps version of the same engine...?

Yes. But there was a 90BHP version.

Cheers for the thoughts guys.

He's actually in his 2nd year as an apprentice mechanic at VW so he can show me a few things.

He's looking at a remap from Custom Code i think as they seem to have offers on at the minute
