Superb 2 long term test in Autocar

Featured Replies

This weeks issue has just landed on the doormat,

So far from a quick scan of the report, Stuart Price "the owner" likes it alot apart from only having an Aux in socket, and the Sat Nav only has four post code digit search.

My thoughts, perhaps he read the manual, he would know more functions about the "Columbus"

Perhaps James should take a quick 1/2 trip upto Autocar towers in Teddington to show him how it all works

I've got to say that I agree with the Autocar tester.

It's very poor that a £1300 satnav system doesn't do full postcode searching. It's something Skoda are aware of, and hopefully should be fixing with the next map disk.

As for only having AUX IN, then I agree with him again. All of the VW cars that have the RNS510 now get the MDI interface as an option. Skoda should too. I'm hoping that this will be offered at some point, but in the meantime, I'm going to fit my own.

Bagpuss.

i think this will be a case of keeping the cost down. i think you are probably fairly unique in needing more music storage. i think the built in 18gig is far superior to other cars - look at the A4....all you get is an SD card slot. Even if you get sat nav you still have to spec AMI to connect an ipod. Use the hard drive plus 3 dual layer DVDs and you get almost 40 gig. i suppose its like other options - why cant you spec the electric seats on the SE model. why cant you have xenons on the SE ? all down to keeping it simple and minimising costs.

you know i agee about the sat nav though.

I was impressed at the speed of email reply from Warren. I replied to tell him it was a shame that customer services dont reply to my emails like he does - the next day I got an email from customer services saying that Warren had been in touch with them and told them i was not satisfied with their lack of response and they apologised that they had overlooked my email !!

Heres hoping they fix the post code thing soon.

I agree that the Columbus offers enough for most people. What I have a problem with is that Skoda don't offer MDI as an option, full stop. I simply don't understand why it's an option on VWs, and not on Skodas. I'd be more than happy to pay extra for it.

Warren always seems to be on the ball with these things. A case in point is the Octy vRS DSG in both diesel and petrol. He's been trying for more than 18 months to make these a reality, and now we have them. I'm hoping it won't take quite so long to fix the post codes, though.

Hopefully these things will be sorted out by the time the Estate is launched!

I'm hoping the Estate will have self levelling rear suspension as well??

I wonder if we'll get their Superb in for anything as we are pretty close to them. Autocar used another dealer previously and from what I read didn't get on so well so maybe they'll give us a go. See if I can get myself mentioned in autocar, that'll be my claim to fame for the next 11 years done.

- Self leveling rear suspension is not something Skoda have ever used before, but probably because it hasn't been required. With a car as big as the Superb Estate which competes in size with the A6 Avant, 5series Tourer and E Class Wagon which are available with self leveling, in fact I think the 5series Tourer has self leveling standard?
