fabia suspension ideas

Featured Replies

My vrs has just ticked over 52k miles and is begining to feel a bit jelly like - wibble wobble on fast changes of direction and not as firm as I'd like in general.

Question is, will my oem suspension be showing major signs of wear by now ?

Also is there anything from the VAG stable that fits the fabia but would give a stiffer ride?

Ta

edit:

one more thing - can any weight be added to the steering feel via vagcom or other. Along the lines of turning power steering down a bit ?

Rear anti roll bar will stiffen up the chassi and it is cheaper than fitting new springs/shocks or coilover set. The spring and shocks should be fine really. Just a sign of them getting on a bit.

How much are you wanting to spend?

Steering can be adjusted via vag-com. Like Stuno said rear anti roll bar helps alot and is much cheaper than springs/dampers fitted.

As for parts from VAG. Seat Cupra solid front rear wishbone bushes are a recommended upgrade. Also you should be able to use dampers from the Polo, Ibiza and I think A2. The likes of Koni list the same part numbers for dampers fitted to them all.

Adjusting the steering might help. Im looking to spend as little as possible - there is a vrs suspension set (<20k miles) on ebay atm and I wondered if a fresher set might cure/improve things. I'd been thinking about a rarb for ages so I'll keep an eye on the for sale section.

Reason I asked about other suspension bits fitting the fabia was a feature in Practical Performance Car a guy had fitted diy 500lb coilovers to a proton

Maybe that's a bit extreme for mine but I was wondering if it was possible ?

Personally think suspension is a black art and should be left to the professionals not to the people who think yeah lets stiffen the dampers 30% and drop the ride height by 50mm. Drove a couple of Renaultsports this week. So far they've had a much better ride and more body control than the fabia.

Drive one lowered sensibly on coilovers... Its a revelation

KW's are the way forward ;)

Firstly i would put a RARB on and see if you are happy, if not look in to suspension alternatives.

KW's are the way forward ;)

My friend runs then the V1's... he's happy.

Im on Vmaxx, were running the same height and the difference between the two ride comfort wise is very minimal

The KW's are stainless however - i believe

How are you finding the v-maxx coilovers? I looked in to these. Seem really good for the price? Did loads of research on them then sold the bloomin car!
