I'm thinking the same thing Mate - WILL IT BE READY! :( Got mega amounts of work to do now - split RCA, split power, split remote, fit switch to remote, lay speaker cable down BOTH sides of the car (one side was bad enough) and then to top it off attempt to fit the infinity 5.1 comps in my front doors... sigh*

You both appear to have too much spare time on your hands :D ,will either of you ever be finished modifying your cars ? or will you carry on into old age

I found it much easier to lay them down the centre console and under the carpet.

Eh? Can you tell me the exact path you took, please? Did you go under the dash once under the centre bit of trim? I was thinking about going down each side, because it shouldn't be too hard to just lift up the edge of the bottom of the trim and shove the cable up there? Question is, how to get into the door? Did you go through the rubbery bit? Or run loose in the gap?

I've placed the RCA's and speaker cable down the drivers side of the centre console and the power down the passenger side. Found it easier to lift the trim on the centre console than the side trims.

As for getting the cable into the doors. I never. Just tapped them onto the oem cables behind the HU.

Almost certainly carry on till old age

Well i have to make a parcel shelf. 2 sub boxes to fit the car. New amp and cap enclosure for where the old amps were then make a cover for them. Amp rack to house 2 more amps to power the subs which is going to be under the carpet behind the spare and also a new boot floor with a window to show the amps and some fans in there as well.

Got to see if new parts for my engine bay are finished yet  :D More things to polish

 Oh - is the OEM cable fairly good then, and OK enough to power a set of comps? This is an option but I really wanted to run one cable from amp to comp, or at least to that crossover box thingy. :D

OEM cable is good for about 150W rms !

i used the two big bundles of wires that came with the comps to go down the car and connected these up to the OEM wires behind the HU...the power of the amp is 2X50Wrms and you shoudlnt need more then that to a set of comps

Sounds like I can run the speaker wires from my Rockford down to the HU then, and tap them into the OEM speaker wires. I'm trying to think how to get up behind the HU without exposing the wires somewhere.

Paul, you're just and old tart really...admit it...I know cos I am too!!

Cheers

Just start at the HU. Feed the cables down the right hand side. They come out somewhere by the foot rest. You may need to put your hand behind the plastic trim to grab the cables. Now feed them down the right hand side of the centre console till you get to the end. Then unscrew the two screws under the tray at the back of the console. Lift the console up slighty and feed the cables under the carpet as far as you can. Now take drivers side rear seat bench out and pull the carpet back so you can get at the cable.

Hope that helps if not surpose I could get the camera out.

John... Thats good mental imagery used there - reckon I can just about follow that. Is it imperative to make sure you remember which is left and right channel wires?

I tell you what would be good, is an illustrated "which wires to tap into" guide to get into the OEM wires. I assume you need to snip them behind the HU and join them with a chocolate block or similar? :D

Seeing its my day (week) off and i'm doing bugger all :D I'll go and take a pic.

You should be spending all your free time constructing ICE related FAQs for all us ICE numpties...

 anyway! :D

Right the wires you want are 3,4,5,6 (middle 4 on the plug) 3,5 being +. Dont bother about which is left and right as you can always sort this at the amp side.

I cut into the HU's wires instead of the OEM ones. This is just so I can return it to stock straight away.

Just make sure you get the + and - the right way round :D

Thread printed and retained for future reference!
