Memory upgrade on laptop?

Featured Replies

I'm totally confused (i know it doesn't take much),just downloaded the crucial tool to scan laptop to check what memory is in it.

It says it's Empty?

It's the work laptop and is a Lenovo 3000 C200 with 1gb but i want to upgrade to 2gb.

Please can someone tell me if i need 1 X 2GB or 2 x 1GB as i don't know how many ports there is.

I know it's DDR2 PC 5300 200 sodimm.

Get the 2*1GB kit to be safe.

You'll either end up with 2GB or 3GB depending on how the 1GB you have is done :)

I think you had better...TAXI!:D

On a similar topic. How can I tell whether I should get DDR2 PC2-4200 or DDR2 PC2-5300 memory for a laptop?

The Crucial scanner doesn't tell me, just suggests both and neither does the Mfr's upgrade tool but both flavours of RAM are suggested.

Go for the 5300... it will be compatible. If the laptop only supports 4200 then the ram will just run at 4200 but then if the laptop supports 5300 then it will run at that speed.
