Stage 2 turbo running with SMIC

Featured Replies

Well I've been without my car for over a month now and I'm getting rather pi$$ed off with it.

So rather than wait another week for forge to actually pull there finger out, I'm gonna mooch around using the standard smic and put some miles on the turbo and clutch ready for the session at Jabba on the 12th.

Dont think there will be many problems seeing as we are freezing at the moment.

Anyone done this before as a temporary measure

Can't see any issues if your still using your old map. Your old maps will still be requesting the same amount of boost so intake temps shouldn't rise. Infact they might drop if the turbo's more efficent.

Yeah still on old map. Only thing I'm worried about is it overboosting

not really 100% on this, but isn't 18psi of boost from a small (standard) turbo different to 18psi from a bigger turbo in terms of actual airflow? it could well make naff all difference, but I'd be inclined to seek advice from a pro

:)

Well I would of thought airflow would be increase due to the bigger compressor wheel but wouldn't have thought intake temps would increase?

Best thing to do would phone Jabba and ask them.

Ross and Xavier use to run a stage 1 (vb turbo from pd150) with a smic.

It will overdo it a bit on air volume available but if you just drive it a bit sensible, which you say you are going to do ;) - it should be fine.

I would wait for the FMIC to do the mapping, beyond that, I seriously would not worry :)

I ran a stage one custom code map (generic map) on FMIC and a stage 1 hybrid for ages, and it did not cause a problem other than not making the most from the hardware :)

Should be fine.. i know someone ran a FMIC and Stage 2 with the 130 map...

I'll be running the Stage 2 with smic for a period

Well its only for mooching around for a week then the FMIC will be fitted probably late thursday night ready for the 12th. Yes I'll have my ballet shoes on rather than a big boot

I dont get why forge dont stock a couple of coolers and then replenish when those go. 14 working days to fabricate one, jesus!
