Tdi - Tuning Box

Featured Replies

I wouldnt use it no.

You may have paid £140 for it, but its the same as the Chips you get off eBay for £20 (see below link).

TDI PD Tuning Chip Fabia Ford Galaxy Lupo Sharan Superb on eBay, also Chips, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-Dec-08 13:36:57 GMT)

Your "chip" just has a different box and connectors, it is still going to confuse the engyne.

Personally I think you would be better off throwing it in the bin before it damages your engyne. Just wait and save up for a remap, I am sure it will be worth it.

Thanks

Gary.

Cheers.

I was Dubious in the 1st instance, So i will bang it on FleaBay & leave well alone until i get it re-mapped.

Thanks

I have a fully functioning dragon tuning box you can have for 130ono :). Put 160bhp on the dyno on my pd130 ibiza (same engine as the fabia... direct fit). Smooth dyno too no spike.

I wouldn't listen to the doom-mongers who say no-no-no-no-no to what you had on your Audi. It won't wreck your engine, and although the price you paid was a bit steep, there's nothing wrong with resistor mods as such, other than the fact they boost the fuelling across the entire rev range, and so give you masses of smoke at low revs. Yes, it's fooling the engine, but it's not making it run outside its design parameters; it just thinks it's a bit cold outside. While their lack of finesse doesn't appeal to me, I can name one or two members off the top of my head who've used them for years with no problems, although newer Fabia vRSes will throw up an engine management light if you use one.

My advice? Stick it on your car rather than the 'bay until you can afford your remap.

Fortunately, I purchased it off my Brother who had it on his A4, SO i didn't pay full Whack :)

Cheers for the Advice all.

I've had that exact box on my fabia vrs since February. Got it for free of a mate. I've had no probs, it just throws up the EML light from time to time.
