Central Convenience Unit

Featured Replies

Anyone advice where to get one (other than main dealer?) Am I right in reading therough other posts that I am looking at £200+ for the box attached to the window motor in the driver door?

Scrappers are the obvious one I suppose - or are they all going to be in a similar state?

One of the pins has snapped off (bottom middle one), due to corrosion I guess. Can't think of any other solution than replace?

On a Mk 1, the central convenience controller is behind the dash with the headlight switch on it.

The part you are looking for is a windows motor, which includes the box attached to it.

Try skospares cars dismantled by skospares.com for all your skospares who are also known as Roadside Rescue (01202-722666). They usually have these in at around £50. You will need your VIN to ensure you get one that works.

You're talking about two different control units there. The convenience unit is under the dash behind the light switch. The door control unit is the one with the window motor attached and there is one per door. A good source of used parts are here:

You may need to quote the full part number from your old unit. Another alternative is to take the unit to bits and try to solder a pin onto it, I have had success with this in the past. I have heard that some owners have dispensed with the plug and hard wired all the connections.

Too late.
