any vectra guru's out there?

Featured Replies

no issue's as yet but the missus has just replaced her knackered vectra 2.0(cambelt went) with a Vectra C 3.2V6 GSi :)

just trying to find out info on things like rain sensors and esp and the book is pretty vague.

i already registered with Vectra C and awaiting my confirmation thingy email but hadn't seen the others but thanks for the help Q.

I used to be a member of VVOC... very helpful forum

Rain sensor works by tapping the stalk downwards once to activate it and again to deactivate it. hth.

ESP, I assume you mean traction control? you should have it on your car, sometimes there is a button for it to control it, sometimes not, it will be to the right of the radio if you have the switch, if not it can be retro fitted but it doesn't always work, there's loads of threads on Vec C about it in either the How2 or Car Chat sections.

i know its got TC, i actually did mean ESP ;)

some sources say that all V6's have esp as standard.

i'll have to try the tapping down thing but i thought that just did a single wipe.

It does, but it also activates the sensor in the mirror, your car will have one, but incase it's had a new screen check for the black square at the top, also not everyone replaces the screen properly, like for like, check if it's a VX screen because the Vectra has a flaw in the screens, I and many other's came out to find the screen broken while parked, they reckon it's the body settling that does it, and should you be unlucky enough that yours goes they are £650 at Autoglass, £300 at the RAC and about the best price you will get one for is around £200. hth.

I don't profess to be a guru by any means, but we had a '54 plate one as a "company car" (traffic patrol), and we had no end of grief with it, and ended up binning it off when it went in for it's 5th head gasket in 3 years, amongs a myriad of other problems :eek:.

how odd, ours has full service history and the head gaskets haven't been done but then again its only done 41k which is about a months milage for a traffic copper :D
