  1. Hi all so I’m looking for a new set of tyres for my mk2 I recently had it mapped to stage one and have so far looked at the pilot sport 4 4/s and asymmetric 6 however I’m worried they’ll struggle in the winter months. I’m reading far too much online on these tyres I just need to buy a set. I’d love to hear people’s experiences on these tyres and if anyone recommends any others others and what are the go to tyres for a mk2? Any help would be appreciated 🙏🏻
  2. Yeah I have one of those too excellent addition 👍
  3. Nice work I’ve not had much chance with mine yet as I’ve been away for a couple of weeks in Turkey hoping I’ve still got time before the real British winter kicks in
  4. I might give dynax a go then over the top of my jenolite if it’s that easy to apply and a bit cheaper than hydrate 80. How does s50 work then and where would I generally use it you mean inside of cills and arches?
  5. interesting so far I’ve only picked up 3 cans of jenolite rust converter I’m unsure after that on what to use I was thinking Lanoguard because of its ease of use and coverage but now you got me thinking about wether I should try hydrate 80. Would it be a direct replacement for the rust converter or would it go on top of the rust converter as a final coat there are so many products out there it’s pretty confusing. Or could I go dynax on top of my rust converter. Any help is appreciated guys the one thing set in stone is the the first coat will be jenolite as I already have it and might aswell use it as my base coat rust converter
  6. Yeah I mean I could run my hand clockwise across the rear of the tyre and it seemed smooth but when I went back across anti clockwise I felt jagged raised bits so I think that’s what it was seems to have gone now I’ve got new tyres on there. The technician said the tyres become 50p shaped also on some older Skoda models. I just want to get to the bottom of it I’ll have to look at the possible issues you mentioned to rule everything out
  7. Sounds like I need to have a mechanic look at this properly as I’ve spend £430 on pilotsport 4s tyres and don’t fancy ruining them 😕
  8. Thank you I’ll go to the garage in the morning and have them checked out I did have the alignment done when they were fit not sure about camber toe adjustment is that something different and would my tyre garage do that?
  9. It turned out I had severe feathering on the inside edge of both of my rear tyres so I replaced all 4 with Michelin pilot sport 4s and the problem is no more.
  10. Hi everyone so pictured is the rear of my recently purchased mk2 call me stupid but are all of the emblem/badge placements correct as per the manufacturers spec? How do people normally go about upgrading moving them around as I’m going to try and pick up some of the newer style original badges and maybe spray them all black barring the insert of the front and rear badges which would be race blue. I don’t want to risk using those crappy cheap copies from eBay as I have a friend that said they lasted no more than a month on his car 😬
  11. I will definitely check out the rust doctor for some extra guidance I’m going to tackle it shortly so will keep you updated on how I’m getting on just hoping nothing is so badly corroded that I need a welder. Super tip on the baby oil too my mirrors are painted but I’ll check if there are any other areas I can do that on. Would be great to see your progress and I’ll share mine in pictures too as I go 🙏🏻
  12. Great info thank you so i had my passenger side rear liner off a couple of days back as i am going to degrease, power wash and treat those and the cills first before i get into the underside. I decided to buy jenolite rust converter to cover first before I use Lanoguard underseal kit to finish off. I’ve also got new capscrews to replace all of the liner ones as a lot of them look rotten. I have attached some pics how bad are these would you say am I fighting a losing battle or am I in a half decent position?
  13. I have this exact issue now booked in next week with a vag specialist it’s driving me around the bend hoping it’s a bearing and nothing more serious.
  14. Hi all so I’ve had my mk 2 vrs for around 4 weeks now and I have got a whirring sound from underneath somewhere whilst driving I have it going into a vag specialist on Wednesday for diagnosis which will cost me £100 up front before any repair work. The sound comes at all speeds as soon as the car is moving and it is there in gear and when the car free wheels out of gear. The sound doesn’t go away or change at all it just sound louder obviously if I take my foot off the gas. Weaving side to side it doesn’t change either making me think it may not be a bearing and something more sinister a mechanic that I know said maybe gearbox bearings. What are people’s thoughts on this and are there any other common faults that the mk 2 has that could cause this. Any help is appreciated 🙏🏻
  15. I did have a look up there yesterday there are some signs of rust but it didn’t look too bad albeit does need some tlc I’ll be sure to have a good luck when I have a full day to get started and take things apart.
