wheel spacer fitting

Featured Replies

Just to anyone who has fitted rea hubcentric wheel spacers, did you have to remove the bearing cap? Got a set of 15mm ones, and there not housed out deep enough to sit right back past the cap, emailed the company and they said remove the cap, fit spacer and put the cap back in with ptfe tape ( plumbers tape? ). Just wondered if any1 else had had this problem. Euan

Sounds like you have the wrong centre bore

nah mate they fit over the hub no problems, there a good fit, but the cap over the bearing on the back stops them going tight to the hub. They fit on the front fine.

Usually you cant get less that 20mm hubcentrics on as the step on the hubcentric part isnt deep enough to go over the centre and sit flush on the face of the disc.

The ones I have bought in the past have been machined out to suit this.

I had to remove this on my golf to fit the spacers

does removing it not let dust and stuff into the bearing? Could see myself buying 20mm ones for the back instead.

Can you refit the cap on the end of the spacer?

Not really sure mate i havent had a chance to try it. The company i got them from said you could and just use ptfe tape to seal it, im sure thats what the plumbers use for the threads of radiator couplings? Would rather not disturb them if i could avoid it though. 20mm at the back, 15 up font? Cheers for your help mate.

The caps do just pop off, id seal them up with a smear of silicone.
