I fitted cabin air filter on my vrs today

Featured Replies

quite surprisingly in the dark and using my torch i managed to remove my old cabin air filter and refitt a new one. Was so surprised by this work of technical efficiency by me that i treated myself to not one but 2 cups of tea afterwards. really was alot easier than i thought but only difficult bit was getting in upside down into the car. Luckily i'm a short guy so wasn't too much of a problem but seeing was.

i made sure the airflow symbol pointed in the direction of passenger door to centre console so hope thats right.

only problem was after i fitted it, turned on the blower, i noticed my passenger air vent was damaged. I hadn't noticed this before and probably cos this was the first time i'd sat in the front pass seat in months. The last time was just before i took it to a car valet centre in orpington. (and coincidently i had a similar experience with my old car...again after taking it the same valet place)

The plastic fins on the vent were damaged. Not sure how this has happened as i'm sure it wasn't like this when i last sat there. I tried moving the up and down slider bar and it goes to a certain point but then sticks as three of the fins are out of sync with the others....

anyone know if this is an easy job to repair or replace?

Easy enough to replace the fins, but by the time you have 3 fins, it's often less hassle to just change the whole unit. Depending on how much a replacement unit is. Look for that "2001 fabia breaking" thread on here. he might have a spare one still.
