Footwell heating

Featured Replies

I have climatronic a/c/heating on my L&K. If I select the heat to the footwell area option the temperature of the heat seems lower than if I direct to say heat to the car (i.e coming mainly through the central or side vents). This is more noticeable when the engine is warming up from cold start - warm/hot air in central/side vents but feels cold if coming through footwell. When the engine reaches normal operating temperature the air coming through the footwell seems as hot as the other vents.

Is this normal or do I need to get this looked at before my warranty expires?

Thanks

Spooky, I used the footwell setting on my L&K for the first time yesterday and when I put my hand down to check how hot it was getting, it was pretty lame as well! It was definately cooler than the windscreen temp.

The dealer told me that its to do with pressure - the air will go to the nearest vent first and advised to have the central vents shut - well I tried that and it didn't seem to make too much difference in my mind..

It went for a service today and a 5051b &GFF was carried out which indicated that a new temperature vent sensor is required.....

Interesting - I posted about the temp in my vRS soon after I first got it - but was basically told I was an idiot.... Probably true. I have also noticed lame footwell temp and general poor responsiveness to heating up and cooling down. Perhaps I should get my dealer to look at the temp vent sensor you describe above. Problem I've found from my DPF sensor is that the dealer won't do anything until it's been in a couple of times to show you're really serious about the problem!!

It took me 3 visits of having my car taken for a rapid drive by my dealer in an attempt to get the car to burn off the soot itself - before they were convinced enough to replace the sensor.

With it being a company car not sure I can face the hassle of going through this again.

Think it's time for a dealer change - having seen Allam's in Epsom was running an open day yesterday and taking customer service more seriously (great initiative James) I will be going to them for my next service.

I find that the Mk II climatronic is inferior to the MK I climatronic. I have had the problem of cool air to the foot-well and have been assured that my heating is functioning correctly.

I found the turn up the temperature trick a while ago but it should not be necessary. It certainly was not required on my MK I Ocky.
