oil change 1.9tdi

Featured Replies

Could anybody tell me the correct/best engine oil to put into my 2007 1.9tdi pd octavia 2 and is it advisable to add any additives? This may have been discussed already but i'm not sure if there is a diference between 1.9/2.0 litre engines

If you have a DPF it's VW 507 regardless of fixed or variable.

If you don't have a DPF it's VW507 or VW506.1 for variable servicing and either of these or VW505.1 for fixed interval servicing.

If you're unsure the safest option would be a VW507.0.

Some examples of a VW507 oil are:

- Halfords does their own brand VW507

- Mobile 1 ESP (VW507.0 variant)

- Millers Longlife (VW507) oil

- Shell oils

- Castrol Edge (VW507)

If the bottle doesn't have the words approved to VW507 (or whichever standard you need) on it then assume it doesn't meet it. Using non compliant oils can potentially cause serious wear on the injectors and cam in PD engines.

In terms of oil additives, no they are on the whole no good and can actually be bad.

In terms of engine flush, speak to your dealer about Forte products and see what they say.

Additives  no no.
