Rear door panel removal???

Featured Replies

I'm trying to replace the main speaker in the rear door on my Octy2, but cannot fathom how to get the plastic door panel off!

I've had the handle and the tweeter off without too much trouble, but can't for the life of me figure out how to get the main door trim off. I can't see any screws or catches anywhere...

Does anyone know how to do this please???

remove screw near the tweeter, remove two larger bolts in the door handle and pull on the whole door card/trim, only held on by plastic clips, about seven of them, which half of them break..... push door card upwards and remove door handle cable and tweeter connection, job done........:)

- Remove tweeter grill and small torx screw that is revealed behind it

- Prize out red light at base of door panel and disconnect plug

- Remove handle cover and two deep-set torx screws

After those three, the rear panels are held only by plastic clips - but they are tight!! Start at the bottom of the door and pull firmly and carefully until you hear a clip pop out. Try to pull straight outwards, rather than levering the panel (that's easier said than done until you've got the first one or two released!) I think there's 5 around the perimeter.

Chances are you'll break some of the clips as they're very brittle. They're 22p each to replace. Once you've removed the panel, you'll find that the speaker is riveted to the door skin as well, so prepare to drill those out too.

EDIT: After typing all that out, I remembered this thread which explains it all much better! :)http://briskoda.net/ice-security-insurance/how-remove-octy-ii-door-cards-speaker-sizes/51291/?highlight=door+trim

Thanks very much. I also checked out that link and it looks a little trickier than I'd hoped (drilling out and replacing rivets), but I might have a bash if the weather's nice one weekend and try my bestest to avoid pricey garage labour costs.:)

yea mate, just replaced all speakers in all 4 doors and added various amps, bigger job than i initially thought and still not finished.......:(

Sorted!:) Got both rear door panels off today with ease and fixed both me rear speakers. Only broke 2 of the clips too! Bonus!

Thanx
